Impromptu stay (good weather) so booked at night at the Woodside. On arrival a nice wee bonus to be upgraded. Our room and the other facilities were spotlessly clean, the bed comfy and the shower great. The bar and restaurant both for drinks, dinner and breakfast had excellent choice and beautifully cooked….but what made the Woodside special was the staff….the service was excellent and friendly. Great stay, we’ll be back….with friends in tow.

Excellent. Staff were courteous,helpful and friendly. All meals were excellent and couldn't pick any faults. Stairs were the only problem. Apart from that thanks to all the staff.

Great little hotel

We had a very comfortable one night stay at The Woodside. The staff were friendly and efficient and the service was done with a smile. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. The room was clean and tidy with a comfortable bed. The hotel is in a good location and we were able to walk into town and down to the castle in no time at all. We will definitely return for another stay.

Great stay.

Stayed for 1 night meeting family who came from a wedding in Edinburgh. We all found the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was very clean and had excellent facilities.We would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel

We had a 2 night break with friends at the Woodside. Rooms were well appointed. Great showers. Food in restaurant was very good and the breakfasts were lovely. Wood definitely stay again and would recommend

Beautiful property. Comfortable bed. Fantastic shower. (Hey, sometimes the pressure isn't great in a rental!). We had dinner in the onsite bistro and it was magnificent. The only downside was the TV didn't work despite the staff's efforts. The next morning at breakfast we overheard other guests had the same complaint.

Excellent staff, great food, comfortable bed, excellent biscuits etc , quiet. Decent sized bathroom, floor could have been mopped more thoroughly. For a long stay a wardrobe rather than the wall mounted hanging would be required but perfectly OK for a few days.

A gem of a hotel.

The Woodside is easy to find and very well presented. The staff were very friendly and the check in process was very straight forward. The whole hotel gave us a sense it is loved and looked after. It was very clean throughout. Our room was lovely. Just what we needed. High quality, clean, fresh but not over the top. The room was very well equipped and even had a little snack box. It's the little details that make all the difference. We also ate at the restaurant in the evening and had our continental breakfast in the morning. All the food and service was excellent. We'd definitely recommend the Woodside and would not hesitate to stay again.

Stayed one night at The Woodside. Easy check-in. Room was small but all we needed. Nice to have crisps, cholate biscuits, shortbread and water in the room as well as tea and coffee. Breakfast which was included, was first class.
