Location and size of rooms make this hotel great for families. However, rooms are not very clean, I do not think there vacuums work very well nor do they vacuum under beds or along edge of rooms. I recommend bringing lysol wipes for peace of mind and wiping things down yourself, Also if you have little ones, check the floor as this is the 2nd year in a row we found a pill on the floor and other dangerous items that a toddler might swallow(popcorn, pen cap etc.) Pool was also closed first two night which was a bummer. Definitely a trade off at this location but there is no property that has it all in this location in Duluth.

I like staying at The Suites in Duluth, MN. The hotel is by many restaurants and shopping. We like going to the Lift Bridge to watch the ships come in. Check in was fast.The hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff is wonderful and they have a nice breakfast. Eggs, meat, cereals, bagels, waffles,fruit, juice, and milk. The Suites has a nice pool and hot tub. We definitely will stay there again.

*First I will say I am never one to complain. I am very easy to please, but I have to leave a comment about this stay* The one positive thing I can say about our stay was the staff member that checked us in was very pleasant and sweet. The rest of our stay was horrible. The room was in the middle of two hallways and was very noisy. When we booked we were not made aware of the hot tub not being in use. There was absolutely zero hot water or even remotely luke warm water for ONE shower for my friends and I. It was a cold and rainy weekend and all we wanted was a warm shower. Unacceptable when you have somewhere to be. We brought this up to the manager upon checking out and never received a follow up call, had to call back a second time and they said they couldn’t do anything about it because we booked with Expedia. Expedia reached out to them and they said they were not willing to give us any sort of refund or discount on a future stay. POOR customer service in my opinion. I had my wedding block here 3 years ago, and have stayed at this hotel more times than I can count. They must have had a change in management because I have never experience this. They have lost my trust in them and business.

Hot tub was not working (which happens and I understand). Lady working the counter throughout the evening had terrible people skills and was not helpful. When we got to the room neither shower had shampoo or body wash in the dispensers. One of the light bulbs in the lamp was broken with pieces swept into the drawer. When taking a shower the water was lukewarm at best. Breakfast was decent, but lacking options and not up to the quality I would expect for over 300 dollars a night. We love coming to Duluth, but will likely choose a different hotel next time.

I was charged for an extra day at this hotel, and the staff was very rude when trying to resolve this issue. The issue is still ongoing, and I am about to get Expedia involved if the hotel continues to refuse to refund the charge for the extra day that I was not there.

Check in staff was great - she let us check in early. The room was okay. There was a large round pillar right next to the bed so you had to go around it to get to the bed. There was NO window in the room. I wish we had known there was no window when we booked. Bed was just okay. Room was dirty - popcorn, crumbs, and used tissue on the floor by the bed. Chocolate (I think) smashed into carpet on other side of bed. Bathroom was dirty with hair (NOT ours) on the toilet.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, the suites are spacious and worked well for our family. The views from the room were great and the access to restaurants and activities was the best it could be. At check-in staff were polite except for one. The door to the suite did not close/lock properly. The furniture was a little beat-up looking and they didn’t clean the room between nights or stock enough toilet paper. Dial soap is super cheap and would have expected a better quality to have provided.

Do not stay here, pick something else.

This was a FAIL from check-in to check-out. First off, I couldn't check in without my husband present (no other hotels.com reservation has this EVER been an issue). Secondly, no notice provided that the entire pool area was closed, with no anticipated opening. The next morning we heard other families talking they were promised it would open that morning, and nothing had moved within the area (cleaners, tools, etc. scattered about). The internal rooms are awful, noisy, stuffy. The hallways had garbage scattered throughout. The breakfast was terrible, dirty, not stocked, and workers were in a bad mood. Never again!

The lady at the front desk was not personable, was in a terrible mood, was yelling at people on the phone, she was downright scary! Also the fire alarm went off and we had no place to go while they fixed it.

We loved the architecture of this building! It was very unique. We had an inside room with no windows. It was quiet. The breakfast was great! Lots of choices. Location was wonderful. They do not clean unless asked, which was fine for us. If you are looking for 5 star, pick a different hotel. We would definitely stay here again.
