This was a good old fashioned hotel that did what it said on the tin. It was a bit like stepping back in time. Nothing fancy but clean, spacious rooms with good beds (and we had bad beds for most of our NZ trip). In fact the best two night’s sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel as it has windows that actually open so we weren’t overheated and didn’t have the usual hum of constant air conditioning like modern hotels in Australia. The staff were nice. We had dinner one night which was excellent though the breakfast (cooked buffet part) was not good. The continental portion had good choice.
