The Big Barn is special & unique property, situated on a private 35 acres in the San Juan National Forest, with spectacular lake views of peaceful Lemon Lake.

Craving Zen privacy but also proximity to town? The Big Barn is a scenic 25 minute drive from Durango and offers all the quiet, and outdoor access you could want, while not being too far to enjoy the fun that Durango has to offer. The Big Barn, along with neighboring Lemon Lake Log Cabin (available to rent separately or together for larger groups) are the only 2 properties with lake views along the south end of the lake…bonus: no other visible neighbors! While staying in Big Barn, enjoy our 3 paddleboards, use of a kayak, a basketball court, and a foosball table. You may never want to leave!

Enjoy the small but mighty chef's kitchen with professional grade gas stove and hidden under-counter refrigerators or grill outside on the Weber gas grill. Head upstairs to an open plan sleeping area with a vaulted massive timber framed ceiling with breathtaking views overlooking the lake. Flip on the gas fireplace for extra cozy nights, and enjoy the brand new King bed, along with 2 private twin bed set ups (see pictures) which provide just enough privacy for all the sleepers. Mattresses are Cocoon, bedding is a combo of flannel and luxury cotton sheeting, along with goose down duvets.

We have board games for you to enjoy, along with Starlink internet and streaming on the Roku tv downstairs. Kitchen is stocked with Keurig & Breville espresso machines, French-presses (for tea and coffee), Calphalon and Lodge cookware.

The home is now equipped with Ultra High-Speed Starlink internet.

Note: This home can be rented in conjunction with another home that resides on the same property. The additional home sleeps 8 people. The two are 100+ yards away from each other and are visually separated by trees. If interested please ask for additional info.

This home is available to be rented for long-term stays (availability dependent). Please inquire for special pricing.

This property is pet friendly, the pet fee is $25/per day, each pet. We allow up to 2 dogs per stay. The maximum pet fee is $200 per dog and will be added to your reservation after you book.

It is mandatory when booking this property for any stays between Thanksgiving and March 31st that you have 4-Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive with snow tires or all terrain tires with good tread or chains. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Please be thoughtful about your water usage, water is a precious resource up here, and comes directly from our captured spring. The cabin is also on a whole-house water filtration system.

NO Smoking anywhere on the premises.

Guests will be sent a vacation rental agreement by Durango Colorado Vacations (the property manager) to e-sign at the time of booking.

Note: This home does not have Air Conditioning. Most homes do come equipped with box and ceiling fans.

A friendly reminder before you book your stay, is to remember we are trusted to manage independent and family-owned homes. We simply ask that you treat these homes and properties with the same respect that you would expect one to treat yours. Due to a recent uptick in unauthorized guest, pets and gatherings. We are implementing a strict "one strike" policy for any guest that are found having any unauthorized gatherings, pets, or guest with them in the home. Failure to disclose any of the stated above will result in immediate termination of stay with no refund being issued for unused nights.

Please note that most properties are outfitted with outdoor security cameras.

Cancellation Policy:
If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that are made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival will receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Between (29) days and fifteen (15) days before arrival, guest will be refunded 50% of the reservation amount. (14) days or less to arrival, no refunds given.
For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date to receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee Cancellations made between thirty-one (31) days in advance of your arrival and (59) days will receive a 50% refund.

Trip insurance is available for purchase and is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
