Beautiful Ocean Point Escape

Greyview Cottage was built in 1895 and is located in the heart of a thriving summer community where kids still ride their bikes to the small local beach and adults can be seen taking leisurely walks along Shore Road, which runs parallel to the rocky coastline. Steeped in local history, Greyview Cottage was the first general store in the idyllic ocean-side neighborhood of Ocean Point in East Boothbay, Maine.

Although fully renovated, the cottage still boasts the original hardwood floors throughout as well as other period details, providing a perfect blend of old-world charm with modern convenience. The seating located throughout the wrap-around porch provides space for guests to find a quiet place to relax or gather together for a lobster bake on the outdoor dining table that seats 6. There is a gas grill for those who like cooking outdoors. Guests can also sit around the fire pit with a chilled beverage or buy all the fixins’ to make s’mores.

The ground floor encompasses a spacious living room, working fireplace, half bath with laundry facilities, and an open kitchen with a custom-made dining table that seats up to 6-8 people. The second floor contains the primary bedroom which has a king-sized bed and two guest rooms, one with two single beds and the other with a full-size bed. A large bathroom with a tub can be accessed through two entrances.

Nestled a block from the ocean, guests can take in views of the open water from the cozy seating on the front of the wrap-around porch or from the third-floor viewing room. The third floor contains another spacious “living” area; a perfect place to watch cable TV, play a board game, read a book, or enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the 180-degree views of the ocean from the large picture window.

During the long summer season, guests also have access to a separate ensuite “bunkhouse” that could potentially sleep six people between two bunkbeds (the lower half are full-size beds and the upper beds are singles). The bunkhouse, located on the other side of the back garden, contains a full bath with a stand-up shower, a cheerful sitting area with a couch, a TV, and a mini-fridge.

The home is located next door to the Ocean Point Colony’s community center, which has a modern playground, a sandbox, and tennis, pickle ball and basketball courts. There is a full-time Activity Director who manages the facilities as well as organizes group activities such as kickball and movie showings in the evenings for both kids and adults to enjoy.

Downtown Boothbay Harbor is approximately 10 minutes away by car.
