Windsurfers will find ideal conditions in various bays, and several surf schools offer courses for beginners and advanced surfers (Rehbach approx. 3km away).
For mountain and cable car enthusiasts, the funicular railway to Peterskopf is just 1 kilometre away. Once at the top, a spacious viewing platform awaits you after a few minutes' walk, from where you can gaze out over the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park and far into the Waldecker Land region. The Kellerwald-Edersee National Park is known for its unspoilt beech forests, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hikers will find 19 well-signposted circular hiking trails here, which can be combined into longer tours. The 66 km long Edersee primeval forest trail, which leads through wild nature and varied landscapes, is particularly popular.
The town centre with its shopping facilities is also just one kilometre away in Hemfurth.
In addition to hiking and water sports, there are numerous other leisure activities:
- Cycling on an extensive network of cycle paths in the national park and around the lake (we are happy to lend you our bikes free of charge).
- Summer toboggan run, climbing forest and corn maze for families and adventure-seekers
- Boat trips on Lake Edersee with picturesque views
- Visit to the wildlife park and the treetop walk for a bird's eye view of nature (500m)
- Geocaching and gold panning as exciting treasure hunts in nature
