The host was not responding to messages about our booking as they had pulled their property from the platform in January (we booked in April for an August stay). After three hours of trying to contact Vrbo, waiting on hold, being cut off, call backs promised and not delivered, we were advised we could rebook and Vrbo would cover up to 150% of the value of our original booking. During the first week of Edinburgh fringe, last minute bookings of equivalent properties were now available for around 500% of the original booking cost! So I told them they would need to make the arrangements. Vrbo offered us an alternative city centre property which was a windowless hotel room, no kitchen facilities, living area or parking (as was included with our original booking). I have no idea why Vrbo didn't pick up on their listing error following a series of complaints about the same issue we encountered!
