Room smelt of drains, broken safe, broken window security, thin walls, and fire alarm went off at 1am. The fire alarm can go off in any hotel but most send a message to their guests or even partially comp the room. No comms from this hotel following incident.

Lovely pub rooms

Quiet, comfortable rooms. Due to the weather, the room was quite hot and hard to cool down. The thick duvet was too much for sleeping, but the pillows and bed were very comfortable. Some instructions in the room on what to do at checkout if reception is not yet open would have been helpful.

The room was clean and quiet which was good. However the toilet seat was loose and bedside lights did not work. I left notification for the High Flyer so hopefully these will be sorted out as I do understand that these things can be missed if not advised. My concern was that we were told that if we wanted breakfast they would have to get someone in specially as they would not be getting in till 10am the next morning. Whilst they said they could do this it made us feel like it would be an imposition so we went elsewhere to eat in the morning.

Room was ok had a steak in the restaurant on the first night and had to ask for a steak knife as was not given one, on the second night i asked for lamb shank but they did not have any so i then asked for rack of ribs but then got told it would be a wait of 2 hours before they could cook them so had to have chicken as thats all they had.

Very Disappointing!

Very disappointed with room as there was a terrible smell of the drains coming from the bathroom. The breakfast is a joke as it starts very late at 8.30 am. We went in at 8.30 and were the only people in. The cooked breakfast eventually arrived at 9.30am! There were no other options i.e cereal or fruit. The hot beverages were charged as extras to the breakfast! We won't be going back!

A comfortable room in Ely

The room was comfortable with an en-suite shower room and toiletries. When we arrived the lady on reception was ok but not overly welcoming. We were shown up to our room and that was fine. We went to the toilet and the flush wouldn’t work. We told reception and then went out. By the time we got back the flush had been fixed and we had no more problems with it at all.

Very disappointing

Booked 2 rooms, we have been last 2 years in December to this hotel, so decided to take friends to show them what a brilliant hotel and restaurant it is. Bad move,booked in for 7.30pm meal. Asked what meats for carvery, Pork,lamb and beef was the reply. Ordered 3 carvery, 1 liver & bacon. Liver dish came out and we were told to go to carvery, only 2 little pieces of lamb left to divide between 3 of us or a pie, which we didn't want but 1 person had to have it. Chef told us waitress should have checked with him. We were offered alternative, but too late as 1 meal had already been taken to the table, Given complimentary sweets, eton mess had no merigue,toffee apple crumble had no crumble and cold custard, rice pudding was long grain rice not pudding rice. Dreadful. Room 5 shower was cold and big dirty crack in wash basin. At checkout another chef apologised, said he had told staff to put joints away and save for Sunday, and as we were late eating, not alot of meat left for us. I do not consider 7.30pm on a Saturday night as a late booking and it had been booked in for 3 months... At no point during check in or during our time in the restaurant or bar did anybody mention breakfast, as it says to speak with hotel on arrival, when you book the rooms, so no breakfast. Check out was 10am on a Sunday morning. Don' t think we will return and our friends would not recommend to their family or friends.

Lovely stay, staff so friendly and helpful. Only 1 issue was the window with no blinds so in the mmorning was very light. Overall lovely, comfortable stay though.

The place was very dated and run down. The worst thing was the smell of drains and damp - particularly in rooms 1 and 2. The door handles all need replacing. The lock broke on room 1 which meant a move to room 5, where the internal handle came off when you tried to get out ( surely a danger if there was a fire?) The windows in all rooms were filthy and the drinking glasses provided not much better! All of these issues were pointed out to the manager who agreed this was totally unacceptable. In his defence it appears that he has asked the management company to authorise the repairs needed but they refuse. My recommendation is to find another place to stay.
