Not bad

The hotel was very walkable to downtown, but with all the homeless around, I don't think I felt very safe. Not the hotel's fault. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The hotel was really cool looking, being historic and all, but it really smelled old. Not terrible, just like you old grandmother's basement. The breakfast didn't have a lot of options. But there are a lot of restaurants nearby. There is an outdoor pool, but it was too cold for that. I would probably stay here again. If we were in town.

This hotel is not the "wonderful" it is rated. It is a sad tomb of a forgotten time. The pool was closed, the paint is peeling, the breakfast was really deficient. I was pretty disappointed.

At first arrival, we checked our room and really liked the environment until night when we checked the shower and there was a visible glob of hair on the shower wall. This hair was not ours so it made us second guess the cleanliness of the hotel, although we really wanted to like it.

Eureka Inn is a once grand, now historic and somewhat creaky old place. Staff were courteous and efficient. Room was OK--large enough and comfortable, with updated bathroom--but no ventilation unit. We were told to "prop open a window" and given a small fan to bring fresh air in (and also street noise). The "breakfast included" is only muffins/toast.

What a cool, interesting hotel. We only stayed one night as we were passing through Eureka, but my husband and i plan to go back and stay at this hotel again just to look around the hotel and learn more about it.

Mixed bag with this one

Beautiful historic hotel with huge welcoming lobby with charm of an era gone by. However, it is dated and relies on pictures from its heyday and its famous guests from 40+ years ago for its charm. Clean rooms with small bathrooms that had zero counter space. Had to use desk in room for toiletries. The shower/tub was full size with good water pressure however, and the bathroom was well stocked with plenty of towels, shampoo, etc., and hairdryer. No outlets near beds, probably because of hotel's age. Harwood floors helped modernized the room, which was a good size, and it felt and looked clean, but still a little dated. Decent sized closet with iron. Mini fridge. Housekeeping only on request. The 'continental' breakfast was the saddest I've ever seen. Skipped it all 3 days. Very nice and helpful staff however. Restaurant on site looks like it has been closed for a long time. All in all it was a decent but dated hotel but I am not sure it was worth $200+ a night.

Beautiful lobby, but tiny rooms. This hotel might have really been something back in the early 1900s, a little dated and even creepy now, gave 'The Shining' vibes. At first I couldn't find the bathroom in the hotel room, then I opened what I thought was the closet and found it was the bathroom. Bed was comfortable and it was reasonably quiet, but I guess I'm used to 20th/21st century size rooms
