the hotel is a national historic landmark, is very old and with a lot of history, that said it feels kind of dated and gives that eerie haunted feel à la “the shining “ (it’s not haunted ok) but it’s definitely an experience, people in the area including hotel staff are super kind and helpful, and even though the breakfast is very basic and could improve, i’d recommend staying here.

Boy I wish this hotel the best of luck, It deserves it. It's not often that you run into these old regal hotels that have had a list of guests that run the gamut from Presidents, first ladies, foreign heads of state and some of the cream of Hollywood's golden ear actors and actresses. Of if the pictures on the walls could only talk.

I bet this hotel was great in its prime. right now it is next to a huge construction site, a rundown neighborhood and the hotel restaurants are closed. It is a beautiful interior steeped with history and the town of Eureka is awesome but this hotel really could use some love..
