The chalet GREAT BEAR is situated in a beautiful and very sunny setting, 10 minutes from the road. The wide open panorama offers exceptional views over the valley and all the mountains.

It is a typical family chalet, with charm and character, which we offer to people who wish to discover the most beautiful valley in the Alps. We ourselves go there regularly on holiday!

The chalet has everything you need for a great stay! Try our raclette oven!

The chalet is located slightly above the village centre, in the fields. The neighbourhood is ideal for people who like to have space and no direct access to a road (perfect for people with children!).

Important notes:
ACCESS TO THE CHALET IS ON FOOT, ~12MIN from the private covered car park in the centre of the village (parking included in the rental - IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO APPROACH THE CHALET BY CAR). We therefore recommend that you take adequate bags to transport your belongings to the chalet.
During your stay at this chalet, you'll be close to EvolĂšne Ski Resort.

Summer Chalet Escape

Great Bear is a lovely chalet with breathtaking views in a unique environment. I cannot think of a better summer escape, given the stunning surroundings of the Val HĂ©rens, the local cuisine, produce, meat products, and delicious wines. The chalet fits the rustic character of the tiny village perfectly, while affording the necessary comforts for an Alpine stay. Absolutely LOVED IT!!!

GemĂŒtliches, einfaches Haus, schöne ruhige Lage. Der Zugang ist etwas schwierig (bei NĂ€sse oder Schnee ist es recht mĂŒhsam, kein Weg sondern quer durch eine schrĂ€ge Wiese). Ansonsten aber tolle ruhige Lage mit schöner Aussicht.

La Grande Ourse est un chalet authentique, propre, bien amenage et avec tout le confort necessaire . Situe au coeur du val d'Herens avec un magnifique degagement sur les montagnes et de nombreuses balades facilement accessibles, nous ne pouvons que vivement recommande cet endroit.

Idéalement situé, ce chalet est à la fois confortable avec une atmosphÚre intime et un ensoleillement optimal. L'absence de voiture dans les environs et le calme valent largement les quelques minutes de marche pour y accéder! De nombreuses balades directement depuis le chalet.

Chalet trĂšs sympathique et confortable, Ă  chauffer au feu de bois (mĂȘme si il y a de petits chauffages d'appoint) dans lequel nous avons passĂ© un week-end trĂšs agrĂ©able. La vue depuis la terrasse est magnifique et le chalet Ă©tant un peu au-dessus de Villaz, on jouit d'une trĂšs grande tranquillitĂ©. A compter que le prix de la rĂ©servation n'inclut pas la facture d'Ă©lectricitĂ©, ni le bois.

Cosy winter stay

Although the weather was not perfect for skiing we could still enjoy the snow in a small but beautiful station in Arolla, breakfasts in the sun on the chalet's terrace, afternoons by the fire and eating a lot of cheese from the region. The chalet is great for 4 people and has everything you may need to have a comfortable stay. Definitely recommendable!

Nous n'avons pas eu de chance avec la mĂ©tĂ©o. Mais au final l'expĂ©rience s'est tout de mĂȘme bien dĂ©roulĂ©e, regarder la pluie tomber bien au chaud prĂšs du vieux poele traditionnel en pierre, manger des raclettes dĂ©licieuses avec le fromage achetĂ© au village plus bas dans la vallĂ©e (le chalet est Ă©quipĂ© du four Ă  raclettes individuelles et du four traditionnel avec la demi meule). Nous imaginons bien que lorsque le soleil est au rendez-vous la terrasse devant le chalet doit ĂȘtre un endroit agrĂ©able pour manger Ă  midi et ce n'est que partie remise car nous allons revenir en espĂ©rant ĂȘtre plus chanceux!

Notre troisiĂšme sĂ©jour dans ce coin de paradis oĂč chaque saison apporte ses trĂ©sors. Ce dĂ©but mai avec une flore incomparable, les sommets restent enneigĂ©s, la vallĂ©e est paisible. J'aime sa situation dominant le village.

Le chalet dans sa simplicitĂ© nous offre l'essentiel mais surtout une certaine Ăąme que j 'aime retrouver dans cette rĂ©gion du Val d'Herens. La petite galerie sur laquelle s'ouvre les chambres du haut, la terrasse pour les pauses au soleil, Ă  toute saison, et oui mĂȘme au coeur de l'hiver. Si le soleil vient Ă  manquer, il y a le charme du pierrolaire! Et le panorama est superbe, quel que soit le cĂŽtĂ© vers lequel le regard se dirige.
