The Whistling Swan, the Door Peninsula's oldest operating inn, was originally built in Marinette, Wisconsin, in 1887. In 1907, it was moved across the ice of Green Bay by teams of horses to become part of Dr. and Mrs. Welcker's Resort and Casino.
