Shabby & in Need of Complete Renovation.

Oh dear this hotel is currently slowly undergoing change. Please wait for the renovation to be completed. The lobby was very pleasant, check in good, but on showing myself to the room, i almost wretched at the vile smell emanating from the room. I went down to the lobby and complained and they gave me a different room which was only marginally better. Why they couldnt have dealt with the smell which they knew existed i have no idea. Anyway the new room had no more than a three foot single bed in it. The bathroom however although small had been renovated rather well. However the shower room, which was good with good hot running water, did not have a soap dish in it. Can you believe it? A simple item costing very little had not been included.. I really wanted to buy the hotel some nice smelling furniture polish for the room and a soap dish for the shower to shame them into doing something about the problems. The breakfast wasnt bad, but all in all for the price i paid i thought it was all very shabby.

Good location but bad room condition

The staff are nice but the rooms are small and have not been renovated in a while. Breakfast is okay, basically croissants and cheese. Coffee is bad, automatic machine

The Ritz should not be classified as a four star.

This is the first time I used Expedia's unpublished rate pick when selecting a hotel. I will not do that again. This hotel purports to be a four star hotel. That's a stretch. I would classify it as a three star at best. The hotel is located at the geographic extreme of the Expedia's unpublished rate zone, therefore not very convenient. My double room was very basic, with old furnishing, in need of painting, and had no wifi. The little money I saved by using Expedia's unpublished rate pick wasn't worth it.

Huge rooms!

We stayed at the Ritz Hotel May 11-13, 2014. We were put in a triple room with a balcony overlooking the river. As mentioned by other reviewers, the Ritz could use an update, but then it would cost more. Good location, clean, friendly staff & adiquate breakfast included. Everything we needed to enjoy our stay in Florance.

Nice foyer, poor rooms

Hotel promotes itself as a 4 star; it is barely a one star in reality. Room was in poor condition and badly in need of repair and refresh. Furniture old and in poor condition. Very thin glass in windows which rattled throughout the night. No fridge in room. Barely adequate breakfast. A disappointing experience. Would never stay there again.

Close to city center

This is an OK hotel, but a little spartan. We stayed for the 2013/2014 New Years (which is very nice in Florence, go to the Piazza Della Indipendenza, life music, great atmosphere for the event). The hotel is over priced, but that may have been related to the new years event. Regardless, the rooms are clean, but kind of old & maintenance is not up to date. Breakfast was ok, but not great. Staff is very friendly though.

Excellent location on the Arno.

Great location and our room really was a 'Room with a View' over to P. Michaelangelo and the Arno. The staff here are friendly and very helpful. Our flight home was cancelled and they extended our stay with no fuss and let us keep the room we were already occupying. Santa Croce is a really nice area of Florence and only a few minutes walk to the main sights of Florence. The bathroom was a little disappointing although it was large and the shower worked well, but the hair drier only blew out cold air and the lights over the basins did not work. We reported both but nothing happened.

Great Location - Good service

In our trip around Italy we stayed here in Florence. The hotel is located in a great spot with a nice view of the river and in a walking distance to the main Florence attractions (10 to 15 min). People at the hotel was nice and treat us very well, breakfast was ok. The main thing they should invest on this hotel is in some new windows to eliminate the street noise at night. Beds were ok for Europe. Good thing they have the parking service but remember it is not cheap (25 euros per night).

Good riverside location.

We were travelers that did not need to spend much time in our room, so the location itself was the key feature we cared about, for getting out and seeing Firenze. The Ritz was excellent for this, since the area around the Uffizi was an easy walk. In addition, the staff were excellent. They accommodated every special request, and we are not picky folk, just travelling with a toddler. The room itself was a bit small, but we understand this cannot be changed.

Centrally located hotel overlooking the river

Every member of the staff was helpful, nice, and professional at all times. Service was fantastic and all needs were immediately addresses. The morning breakfast of lunchmeats, yogurt, cereal, bread, fruit, and juices was served until 10:30 am daily. The hotel 20 minutes frm the airport, located on the main river road with an amazing view from the front rooms. The style is old shabby chic and moderately priced. My room had hardwood floors, and all the basic requirements (private bath, beds, table, closet, lamps, fridge, air conditioning, and a small tv). My room did have a blow dryer, but ironing is done on the lobby level. I did not hear any noise from the ajoining rooms, but I could hear street noises. The hotel is an easy 3 block walk to the start of the touristy areas of museums, churches, city tour buses, and shops. The room was restocked and cleaned early each day. There is a computer in the lobby with free internet. It was a perfect stay for what I needed and I would stay at the Ritz again.

Ritz is lovely

Older hotel but very nice. Roof top deck was lovely, Beautiful view from our room overlooking the river. Breakfast buffet saves you money and is adequate. Great location. You can walk to all the best museums and sights. Price was great. We would definitely stay there again.

Sorry needs major renovation and upkeep ...

Great location but very run down and very dirty. Quality of rooms and public area very very disappointing, staff very friendly and helpful. Needs major revamp!! Don't stay there till this has been done.

One star hotel costs as a 4 star

If this is a 4 star hotel, I cannot imagine how a 3 or lower rating hotel might be.You could tell the room was not cleaned every day. The refrigerator was not working, the tv was smaller or the same size as my iPad. Closet wise, there was no room to hang the clothes and the beds were all tilted to one side or bent in the middle towards one side which made sleeping very uncomfortable. The breakfast buffet was as awful as it could be. Bad coffee, small dining room, and simple. In the room the bathroom was not functioning properly. The shower could not be adjusted and there was not curtain to avoid wetting all of the bathroom. The location was great but the stay was not pleasant. I would rate this hotel as a 1 star hotel.
