Summary:

Maybank in Muirshearlich, Scottish Highlands, sleeps eight guests in four rooms.



The Space:

Maybank is a gorgeous, single-storey, detached home with four bedrooms including a king-size with en-suite shower room, a double and two twins. There’s also a shower room, a kitchen/diner, a dining room, a sitting room with an open fire, and a conservatory. Appliances include an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher. For entertainment there is a TV, WiFi, a selection of books, DVD with a selection of DVDs and CD player. Outside, you can find a spacious, enclosed garden with a lawn, patio and picnic table, along with private, off-road parking for three cars. A travel cot and highchair are available and a membership for the Fort William Leisure Centre, fuel, power, a starter pack for open fire, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent. Two well-behaved pets are welcome but sorry, this is a smoke-free property. You can find a shop and pub within 2.8 miles. There are two steps up to the property and a burn near the property garden, children and pets must be supervised. Check-in from 4pm and check-out by 10am. Choose Maybank for a memorable break amongst mountains.



The Neighborhood:

Caol, pronounced "cool", is a picture-perfect lochside village resting between Fort William and Gulvain mountain. The village is known for its dramatic views of the surrounding mountain ranges, and the Caledonian Canal, which passes through the north-west of the village, and offers an easy route to nearby attractions including Caol beach, Neptune's Staircase and Old Inverlochy Castle. Dining options include two takeaways, Sammy's Fish & Chip Shop, and The Golden River Takeaway, along with The Lochy, a traditional pub and restaurant, while you can stock up on essentials at the nearby convenience store. Within easy reach of the town is the popular town of Fort William, where you can find further attractions and outdoor activities such as the famous Ben Nevis, Steall Waterfall, and plenty of museums and visitor centres in the surrounding areas.

Great Spot

Great location, stunning views

The location of the house is stunning with far reaching views do the Caledonian canal and Ben Nevis. Fort William is only a short drive away for all the amenities that you need. The house was clean and well presented, but there are some areas that could do with some modernisation, this didn’t detract from the enjoyment of the stay. Only downside was the neighbours dog occasionally visiting the garden!

A wonderful place to stay!

We all had an amazing time at this property. It was very clean, beds were so comfortable and living area had wonderful views of the canal and Ben Nevis in the background. The kids didn't want to leave! It was an ideal base for us to travel around the Highlands and local amenities were not so far away. We all loved the peace and quiet away from our town/city lives. Would love to book again next year.

Wonderful escape to the Highlands

We loved our stay in Maybank - perfect in every way. Even the weather behaved. The Caledonian Canal was wonderful and the views of Ben Nevis spectacular. Ilona was extremely helpful and I’m sure we’ll be back one day!

The perfect group getaway!

Maybank provided a wonderful stay for a group of us to relax, and was a treat to return back to after the beautiful walks we took. (Would highly recommend the Nevis Gorge/Steall Falls walk!) Warm and comfortable, and the host was very communicative and accommodating. Very happy!

Great for hiking Ben Nevis

Excellent base for our adventures in the Highlands. We hiked Ben Nevis and explored further afield. 15 minute drive out of Fort William. Well equipped kitchen and four bedrooms were great! I have rental several homes and this hands down was the best one we have ever rented. Location was beautiful. It was hard to leave to go do things. We all wanted to sit in the conservatory and read. Kitchen well stocked, including fresh farm eggs and milk. Event bedroom was well furnished including toys for my granddaughter. We had rented a car which I think was necessary for this location but well worth it.

What a view.!

We all loved the location of Maybank. Plenty of space for our family of seven. An adequate supply of hot water, dishes etc. Comfy beds and open cosy fire. A couple of points to mention. In the en suite shower it would be handy to have a wee corner unit for soap/ shower gel etc. Also in the small double it would be beneficial for a small rail in the cupboard to enable clothes to be hung up. Would love to visit in the summer and make use of the sun lounge with its views over the canal. The location was ideal to visit Fort Augustus,Morar and Arisaig. Lots of shops in Fort William and things to do. Walking Neptunes staircase while looking over to Ben Nevis was great. The view from the top of the Gondola was fabulous.

Amazing views from every room, spacious accommodation, central for all activities.

Superb bungalow with amazing views from every room especially the kitchen with its three windows. The sun room even in late October was a lovely room to watch the ever changing sky, mountains and the passing boats on the canal. The house is warm, lots of hot water, plenty of crockery etc in the kitchen and of course the open fire in the lounge which has three comfy sofas. Bike storage is catered for with a shed at the bottom of the huge garden but remember to take your bike locks with you as there is no lock on the shed. The weather was excellent so we cycled Glen Nevis, Banavie to Gairlochy and cycled under the Glenfinnan Viaduct , went on the gondola to Aonach Mor, road trip to Arisaig but on the one rainy afternoon we had the house is a great place to relax to read a book or just watch the the ever changing sky. Looking forward to a return visit.

A quality property in an excellent location

This property is very spacious and well laid-out with a large and well-maintained garden. In a stunning location, with views over the canal and the Nevis range whilst still being close to the facilities of Fort William. Clean and well furnished/equipped/maintained. Loved the sun room. Only a few minor things (e.g. wi-fi dropping out regularly and sound going out on tv) stops it being a five-star review. Would be more than happy to return.

The location is amazing. The scenery is amazing. The house is huge and easily accommodates 8 people. It has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable plus more. Shops are not too far away if you require something and Ben Nevis and Nevis range is just down the road. Would highly recommend. Will be returning.
