Escape the stresses of daily life at our elegant 4-bedroom cottage, just 10 minutes from historic downtown Frederick. Set on five private acres with a tree-lined driveway, you’ll enjoy luxury finishes, a heated spa, and a private pool (seasonal) I in a peaceful, secluded setting that’s still close to I-70, I-270, and Route 340.
Things to do in the Frederick Area
Nestled in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge and Catoctin Mountains you will be less than one hour from Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland and minutes from Gettysburg, Antietam and Harper's Ferry. A trip to the big city isn’t necessary for history buffs. Tour the National Museum of Civil War Medicine or the Revolutionary Hessian Barracks, or the grounds of Monocacy National Battlefield. Travel to nearby Antietam, Gettysburg, Harper’s Ferry, or South Mountain Battlefield.
If nature is more your pleasure, hike or bike the trails of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Catoctin Mountain Park or the C&O Canal or take in the waterfalls at Cunningham Falls State Park. A tour of downtown Frederick’s historic architecture, public arts, the Community Bridge and murals makes a great day trip. Frederick has been named one of “America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations:,” “Great Places in America,” and a “Preserve America” community.
Performing Arts & Music
The city of Frederick is a recognized Maryland Arts and Entertainment District. Take in a play, concert or dance performance at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. Across the street you’ll find a more intimate experience at the Maryland Ensemble Theater featuring a main stage series of original and contemporary plays, comedies improve troupes, and a family theater series. If a dinner theater is more to your liking visit the Way-Off Broadway Dinner Theater.
Lovers of live music will want to visit downtown Frederick after 9 pm on weekends. Shoppers will love boutiques, specialty shops and antique emporiums in downtown Frederick. It’s a short drive to one of the nearby antique meccas, such as New Market, Mt Airy, Middletown, Emmitsburg and Thurmont. Sample Frederick’s nationally acclaimed wines at wine festivals held throughout the year.
Summers in Frederick are magical with wonderful arts events. The Frederick Festival of the Arts features more than 100 artists and dozens of musical offerings. Frederick also boasts a great Summer Concert Series which launches its annual season of weekly Sunday night concerts in beautiful Baker Park. On Thursday mornings in late June, July and August, Summerfest Family Theater features professionally produced children’s entertainment there as well. On Thursday nights the Carroll Creek Amphitheater heats up with the sounds of live music during Alive @ Five for those over 21.
Visual Arts
Frederick offers fine arts venues such as the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center featuring diverse art exhibits in an exciting location. Equally engaging are the many privately-owned galleries and shops specializing in original paintings, pottery, jewelry and artistically executed home accessories. The city landscape provides dozens of public art projects where you will find more than 30 murals and sculptures.
Sports
If baseball is your favorite pass-time, take in an evening at the Frederick Keys Stadium. The Class A Minor League farm team of the Baltimore Orioles offers fireworks, kids’ activities and a family friendly environment. Enjoy some of Frederick’s top golf courses including Musket Ridge, Maryland National, Whiskey Creek, Links of Gettysburg, Clustered Spires, P.B. Dye, Worthington Manor, Challedon, and many more.
