Welcome to Pinecone Trails Cabin, where modern comfort meets untouched Kentucky wilderness. Nestled on acres of private, densely wooded land with no other cabins in sight, this thoughtfully designed retreat blends rustic charm with premium amenities. Whether you’re planning a family reunion, a couples' getaway, or a trip with friends, Pinecone Trails is your ultimate basecamp for relaxation and adventure.
Your Own Private Retreat
While there is plenty to do in the Red River Gorge, many of our guests find they never want to leave the property! Pinecone Trails is specifically designed to be a destination in its own right:
• The Great Indoors: Gather around the cozy stone fireplace beneath stunning, warm Amish-crafted beams and peaceful uplighting.
• Entertainment Hub: Challenge your group in the game room, whip up milkshakes and gourmet meals in the fully stocked kitchen, or retreat to the magical sensory nook for kids under twinkling fiber-optic star lights under the stairs.
• Massive Double Decks: Two expansive 12x60-foot covered decks overlook a breathtaking valley, Wildcat Ridge, a natural rock cave, and a seasonal waterfall. Enjoy your morning brew or late-night chats in the comfort of the screened-in porch. Because our decks are covered, you can enjoy them during all seasons.
• Unwind Under the Stars: After a day of exploring, sink into the bubbling hot tub or share stories around the fire pit under a brilliant night sky.
• Easy Accessibility: Leave the heavy lifting behind. Our main level features zero-step accessibility directly from the driveway into the cabin.
A Note on Accessibility: Our hearts are for all guests!
The first floor is accessible (Becoming Rentable certified), featuring thoughtfully designed ramps and larger doorways. If you use a wheelchair or have specific mobility needs, please reach out in advance—we can even have a special electronic arcade game moved from the downstairs game room to the first floor so everyone can join the fun!
Location: The "Peaceful Side" of the Gorge
Pinecone Trails is located in the scenic Indian Creek Resort area which has 20+ cabins. We love our location because it offers true peace, quiet, and escape from the high-traffic tourist crowds. Runners and walkers-alike love the miles of gravel roads.
A Note on Distance & Connectivity: To get this level of untouched privacy, we are located about 45 minutes from the central hub of the lower Red River Gorge (like Miguel's Pizza and Natural Bridge). Along with the other cabin owners, we believe the seclusion is worth the drive, but we want our guests to plan accordingly! Because cellular signals can be spotty in the Gorge, we recommend downloading your maps via the cabin’s Wi-Fi before heading out.
Right Outside Your Door (0–20 Mins)
• Laurel Rock Trail: A beautiful, marked old logging trail near the cabin—perfect for quiet morning walks.
• Devil's Market House Arch Trail: A fantastic hike just 20 minutes away.
Mid-Distance Adventures (25 Mins)
• Nada Tunnel: The famous Nada Tunnel is just 25 minutes away, leading to several incredible trailheads (limited roadside and dedicated parking available).
The Main Gorge Hub & Attractions (45–60 Mins)
Make a day trip out of the area's iconic landmarks and activities:
• Hiking & Sights: Natural Bridge State Resort Park, Natural Bridge Skylift, and Broke Leg Falls.
• Action & Adventure: Gorge Underground (underground kayaking), SUP KY, Zip-lining, and Out the Top ATV Adventures.
• Local Eats: Miguel’s Pizza, Red River Rockhouse, Redpointe BBQ, La Cabana Mexican, Staybridge, and Daniel Boone Coffee Shop in Slade.
• Cave Run Lake: Bring your kayaks or rent a pontoon! The closest boat launch is Scott Creek Marina and is a 45-minute drive.

The cabin is in Frenchburg, KY. Cell service in the area can be spotty so please load your map before arriving in the local area. If your map directs you to take a road from the high school and the gravel quarry (Patrick Cemetery Rd), please do not follow it. That is a gravel road and extremely difficult to navigate. You should take HWY 460 from Frenchburg then McCausey Ridge Rd to Amos Ridge Rd and follow remainder of map instructions.
