For a slice of paradise on the scenic Costa Blanca, a quiet getaway to Villa Maria Isabel is just the ticket. Burrowed in a tranquil spot between Nerja and Frigiliana, it makes it the ultimate serene escape to truly get away from it all. Perched on the hillside and designed with the stunning scenery in mind, it will be hard to snap up a villa with better views of the incredible Andalucian countryside than Villa Maria Isabel. Surrounded by rolling green hills, gaze in awe at decadent vineyards and lush greenery at every corner. That morning coffee never tasted so good when looking out at the Mediterranean Sea on the horizon. Just a short drive away is the whitewashed town of Nerja, lined with golden-sand beaches and rocky coves. Wander down its popular cobbled stone streets to find traditional tapas bars, international restaurants, and a low-key nightlife scene. For a slice of culture, the beautiful village of Frigiliana is picture-worthy in its own right, with quaint white-painted houses stacked on its steep sloping streets. There’s even something for adventure-seekers – hike up the hill towering over the town for an unbelievable view over the historic streets and never-ending mountainscape.
The villa’s history echoes through the exteriors, with antique stucco walls, rustic stone borders, and terracotta tile roofs that blend into the traditional architecture of the region. Follow the beautifully intricate mosaic floor through to the spacious living area, with a wood-burning fireplace tucked in the corner. Overflowing with a contemporary style, the bright blue sofas contrast with the fresh white colour scheme and pine wood furniture. The old-style décor adds to its charm, with floral curtains, timeworn crockery, and antique details. Walled by two sets of French doors opening out to balconies, the room is illuminated in warm light from the seeping sunshine. For the budding chefs in the group, the country-chic kitchen is an ancient marvel, with rich wooden cabinetry and a quaint breakfast table. Spanning the two floors are two twins and two double bedrooms, with authentic furnishings reflecting the classic style of the region.
We can’t think of a better place to escape the hustle and bustle than the outdoor space, giving you a bird’s eye view of the incredible lush rural hillscapes and glistening sea vistas. Step out of the living area onto a wrap-around balcony, the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee whilst listening to the waves in the distance. On the lower terrace lies a large, gleaming swimming pool where you can dive in and cool off from the glaring Spanish heat. Make use of the poolside lounger and top up the tan, preferably with a cocktail in hand. For barbecue enthusiasts, you’re spoilt with an entire summer kitchen consisting of an old-fashioned grill, an outdoor oven, and plenty of counter space to whip up a few meals. There are so many dining spots to choose from - from the rustic wooden indoor tables, a shaded space under the beamed veranda, or an intimate dining area overlooking the incredible scenery.
