The modern design house consists of two bedrooms with large areas much and solarentos. The double bedroom has a balcony facing south, the bay of Funchal, with chairs and hammock for relaxing. Besides the magnificent view you can enjoy the sun all day and watch the fireworks on festive seasons.
The second bedroom has two double beds. This floor has full bathroom.
Downstairs is the dining room and living room, a service bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and access to a very cozy patio with garden chairs.
The change of bed linen and towels and housekeeping is weekly. You can request extra service of daily monitoring cleaning, with additional payment.
We can also arrange airport taxi transfers with reliable driver, babysitter service, sea surf activities, paddle, sup, windsurfing, boat down the coast for dolphin watching and other marine animals, recommended and paid for locally.
Convent of Santa Clara, Museum of crosses, English Church, Church of St. John the Evangelist from Funchal College, Cathedral of Funchal among many buildings, museums and moments that you can easily visit on foot without the need for transport. As well as the shops and restaurants and bars in town.

A really fun, quirky property with a great South facing terrace overlooking the marina and cruise ship port. We really enjoyed watching the coming and goings of the super liners.The house is full of interesting art work and is the only place we have ever stayed to have a working wind up gramophone. These little touches help make the stay memorable. Great location close to several great house/garden museums and around 10 minutes walk into Funchal centre. However, it takes longer to walk back up the super steep hills. Hugo, the host was great - really friendly, helpful and hospitable. He even helped with parking for the hire car. On which point, driving and parking around here is extremely challenging!!A really comfortable and enjoyable stay. We had a great time. Thank you.

Great outdoor space. The view from the deck off the bedroom is fabulous. The apartment has character and everything you need for a relaxing stay. Hugo, the host, was very welcoming and made us feel right at home.

The place was not as advertised. There were cockroaches running all around the place. The toilet was not working the flush mechanism was damaged and it could not be used. There was no hot water. There were two fans provided in the unit. One was old and rusted but working. The other was not working. There was a bad odour in the bathroom. This was pointed out to the host. He came and cleaned out the bathroom the next day but the smell was still prevalent. I do not understand how this place has a rating of 10 oin the VRBO website.

A wonderful host, a lovely house and a great location

Looking out over old Funchal towards the harbour, the house has panoramic views south over the Atlantic and across Funchal. Hugo, our host, was kind, generous and attentive, leaving us small gifts and treating us to a poncha in nearby Camara de Lobos. Highly recommended for relaxation and location.

Well equipped spacious property with great views

Hugo is a very obliging and cheerful host. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The rooms were very spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. There are great views of Funchal from the property. It is located close to the centre but is up a steep hill.

Wonderful views and spacious apartment

Wonderful views over the city and harbour. We really appreciated big balcony and terrace and well equipped kitchen. Hugo welcoming and easy to contact. Location not suitable for those with mobility issues or children in buggies etc due to steep hill!

First Visit To Funchal

Lovely House , Spotlessly Clean , All Home Comforts Hugo is a fantastic host , Very friendly and replies to messages very quickly . He greeted us on our arrival showed us around and how everything works . Property is situated in the heart of the village , lots of little local shops dotted around but on a very steep hill . You can walk everywhere which is great lots to see and do . We ate out every day and would try somewhere each time We caught a taxi back most evenings which isn’t expensive €5-€6 . And only takes about 7 mins max if that , We will definitely return to Funchal . Many thanks Hugo

Great location - away from the busy tourist section but close enough for a pleasant walk(just be prepared to walk uphill coming home). Good exercise! The apartment had alot of old world charm and the all the amenities for cooking and washing clothes

Fantastic house

Sizeable property with lovely courtyard and balcony. Totally private whilst in amongst the locals. Lots of cafes and bars within walking distance. Steep walk back up from town but the no. 15 bus stop is just up the hill and you can walk downhill from that. Fabulous south facing view. The house has everything you could want and more. Thank you Hugo for everything.

Great New Year”s Break

One of our bucket list items was to see the NYE fireworks in Madeira. We booked this 12 months ago and as ever Madeira did not disappoint. As for the house it was well kitted with all you would need and more, clean and tidy with a great view of the marina from the balcony. Our host Hugo was excellent both in comms before we arrived and met us personally at the property to give a guided tour. Nothing was too much trouble and whilst unobtrusive it was reassuring to know if we needed anything or advice he was available. Whilst 15 minutes walk from the promenade in Funchal you should also explore the local area, the cafe at the fort is well worth a visit. Be prepared for the hill climb, we did it most days but in the evening got a taxi or Bolt back up the hill, cost between 4 and 7 euros depending on taxi service and time of day.

Great value for family

2 wonderful patios in this unit. Great kitchen facilities for cooking - even sharp knives. Very quiet at night. Lots of coffee and restaurants within 5 min walk. Hugo is very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again

2 outdoor decks were very nice, great location, could walk to downtown Funchal but took taxi back each night. The grades of the streets are upwards of 45%.

Great House!

Hugo is a master at hospitality. Very nice man who had fresh fruit and cold beer upon our arrival. He showed us around the property and even gave us a ride into town on our first day as he was leaving at the same time to go get a haircut! The house was clean and ready for guests. We did not use the kitchen much, but comes fully stocked if you choose to prepare your own meals. The views are fantastic. Would highly recommend this property if you are considering. Would also recommend Hugo’s recommended taxi driver if you wish to take a tour or 2 of the island. We took an easy side tour with Jose and a west side tour with Jose’s nephew, Nuno. Both were great and knowledgeable and provided good information about the island. 10 out of 10!

Quirky townhouse with great views.

A very clean, well equipped, slightly old fashioned and quirky town house, with great views down to the harbour, and the Saturday night fireworks, from the upstairs terrace. The owner, Hugo, is a wonderfully friendly and helpful host and made sure we had all we needed. He organised our airport taxis pick-up. Would stay again.

Great location, great apartment, great host!

We stayed in Hugo's apartment in Santa Luzia, Funchal for 4 nights. Firstly the apartment is much bigger than it looks in the pictures, being Hugo's old family home, it is homey and welcoming and has everything you could possibly need for a stay including Hugo's unique artwork and a mini fridge dedicated to complimentary mini beers. Hugo is an actual star, going out of his way to be helpful but not intrusive. He works downstairs so is often on hand for guidance or questions. The bedrooms are spacious and beds comfortable and the views from the double room are excellent. The kitchen has a great set of gadgets and Hugo even provides coffee capsules and teabags. The location of the property is fabulous, you can choose which side down you go into town, arriving on the west or east side of Funchal within 10-15 mins. The walk back up makes you puff a bit but is fairly short so very doable. We would not hesitate the stay at Hig's lovely apartment again in a flash!
