Inside, the welcoming living room features a deep sofa and two armchairs around a wood-burning stove, while the country-style kitchen is fully equipped for relaxed self-catering. A steep staircase leads to the bedrooms — one king and a flexible second bedroom that can be set up as a king or twin — and forms part of the cottage’s character, though it may not be suitable for the elderly or those with restricted mobility. The modern bathroom with a walk-in rainfall shower is located downstairs.

The location is a dream for outdoor enthusiasts — enjoy tennis, fishing, and a wealth of walking and mountain biking trails right from the doorstep, including access to the Southern Upland Way. The world-class Glentress Mountain Biking Centre is nearby, and the area offers historic houses, championship golf courses, and beautiful gardens to explore. For a change of pace, hop on a nearby train and be in the centre of Edinburgh in under an hour.
