Beach Bliss for Birders on Bikes
I love this place. I've been here twice before and I'm in heaven the moment I get off the South Shore train with my bike and bags. Everyone I've encountered in Miller is relaxed and friendly - people wave and say Hi here! - and it only takes a few minutes up the dedicated bike path (still under construction near the National Park which is right around the corner) and in less than an hour from downtown Chicago you can settle into a fun boho mid-mod with chickens in the backyard and bird art all over the nicely appointed and cozy hideaway. Start your day with some birding from the front porch before you head out to explore and you may even hear and see some rare ones - osprey and sandhill cranes! There are some great food options in the area but there’s a grocery store nearby if you’d rather cook: the kitchen is excellent. The beds are comfortable. The hosts are responsive if you need something but otherwise unobtrusive. All the necessaries and comforts are here for you to have a super relaxing getaway. Just because the address says Gary doesn't mean that it's scary.
