Needs updating

We arrived very late for check and were greater with an employee at the check in desk who smelled like weed. When we opened the door to our room, you could immediately see the stains on the carpet. The sofa was filthy, I didn’t even want to put my suitcase on it and definitely did not want any of my family to sit on it. Many of the outlets did not work and the ceiling light kept flickering. We had the air on but the room still felt very damp. One of my son’s shirts felt like he ran a marathon, it was that wet. I had thought about asking for another room but based on the hallway carpet and elevator floors, I didn’t think it would be any different. The breakfast area was clean and had many options which was nice. The lobby area was clean. This hotel is old and definitely needs updating!

Nice big room, air conditioner was a little funky either too warm or too cold, husband checked the filter, had not been cleaned for awhile. Very nice breakfast. Would stay there again

Breakfast and Restaurant

The breakfast actually stayed well stocked throughout the designated times. Two waffle machines helped move crowds along. King bed was older but a quality built bed so sleeping was easy on the medium firm mattress. As always Little Africa Cuisine on Fulton St was an Amazing Unique celebration of food. I don't know of another restaurant like this in the United States. Also, the Social House next to Van Andel Arena had a budget friendly menu with interesting appetizers and amazing pizza!

The room needed a deep clean, the carpet was dirty and there was black mold near the air conditioner and along the bathtub. Both my daughter and I had lingering respiratory issues from the air quality in the room.
