About this property
Poggio ai Pianacci - Flo Apartments
Just 2 km from Greve in Chianti, the warm and familiar hospitality of Poggio ai Pianacci will welcome you to the idyllic Chianti countryside in an intimate setting rich in history and authenticity.
This beautiful house with private garden and swimming pool, on two levels, is part of a stone farmhouse, nestled in a dominant and strategic position on the top of a hill, and enjoys a breathtaking view of the bucolic landscape that surrounds it: the hills, the little church, the romantic castle of Colognole, the cypress trees, the rows of vines as far as the eye can see and the well-kept olive groves.
Newly renovated, the house offers on the ground floor a living room with a large kitchenette and dining area, a bedroom with a double bed, and a bathroom complete with shower.
On the loft there is another bedroom with 3 single beds, a half bath (no shower) and can comfortably accommodate up to 5 people.
It is a quiet, cosy and relaxing corner where peace and tranquillity reign supreme and is the perfect base from which to explore the beauty of the world famous Tuscan cities of art such as Siena and Florence, the countless villages that dot the rolling Chianti hills and the farms in the area, and then return to relax far from the chaos of the city and enjoy the peace and unspoilt beauty of this delightful place, enjoying a nice glass of wine by the pool or a nice dinner comfortably seated in the cool of the furnished garden.

Newly renovated with style and taste by the owners, it has been finely furnished with particular care and attention to detail, preserving the typical elements of Tuscan style, such as the stone and brick walls, terracotta floors, large fireplace and exposed beams.
Valuable materials and special objects typical of the past, skilfully restored and brought back to life, coexist in a simple and sober manner with the efficiency of modern comforts and modern design furniture.
For those who wish to immerse themselves in the peace and bucolic atmosphere that the countryside and the beautiful Tuscan hills have to offer, this comfortable flat is the ideal choice: perfect for family holidays with children, who can safely enjoy themselves outdoors in the large, well-kept garden, among friends, or for a romantic getaway for two.
Upon arrival inside the property, you drive along a small white road in the middle of a well-kept olive grove, which then opens onto the large park surrounding the house and from where you can walk through the wood paths.
From here, on the right, you have access to the large swimming pool equipped with deckchairs and sunshade, and on the left to the large private garden of the house, rich in flowers and furnished with a sitting area, wooden gazebo and wrought-iron table, for your al fresco dinners on summer evenings.
From the private patio you enter, through a large French window overlooking a splendid panorama of the surrounding hills, the large living room where we find, on the left, a decorative masonry fireplace that recalls the atmosphere of the past (not usable)
The living area, is also furnished with a shabby chic table and chairs, a large arte povera sideboard and a sofa.
At the far end of the room is the large kitchen with its original pickled wood counter and Carrara marble top, equipped with everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner whenever you want (oven, dishwasher, moka coffee maker, kettle, etc.).
Crossing the living room you come to the sleeping area, which consists of a quiet and bright double bedroom, tastefully furnished with a large double bed, an arte povera chest of drawers and a built-in wardrobe.
A modern bathroom with shower completes the ground floor.
From the living room, a Florentine terracotta staircase leads to the large attic, furnished with 2 single beds that can be joined into a double bed, a chest of drawers and a sommier, that can be converted into a single bed if necessary, to accommodate even the most diverse groups and larger families.
A second service bathroom upstairs (without shower) completes the house.
THE AREA
The house is part of the farmhouse complex Il Poggio ai Pianacci, nestled among the vineyards and olive groves surrounding the picturesque town of Greve in Chianti, from which it is about 2 km away.
In Greve in Chianti, halfway between Siena and Florence, you can breathe the air of hilly tranquillity and visit a medieval village where time seems to have stood still.
We are in the heart of the area known as Chianti Classico, an area of excellence in the production of the world-famous wine of the same name, famous since the 14th century for the image of the black rooster reproduced by Vasari on the ceiling of the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Just a few minutes' drive from the town of Greve are countless farms and estates, such as the Vignamaggio farm and the castles of Uzzano and da Verrazzano, the Palagio di Panzano and the village of Lamole, where you can taste exceptional wines, especially the local Chianti Classico.
We are in a DOC area that is not only famous for its wines, but also for its food: the main square has become home to an increasing number of open-air restaurants, bars and wine cellars, where you can breathe in the typical atmosphere of a Tuscan village, full of inviting aromas and flavours.
The sourroundings are also dotted with farms producing the delicious pecorino cheeses.
Absolutely worth a visit are the towns of Greve in Chianti, which can be reached by car in just 5 minutes (3 km), where you will also find the main services such as banks and supermarkets, Panzano (6 km), Radda (16 km), Gaiole (28 km), Castellina (17 km), Siena (44 km) and of course Florence (32 km).
The area is also ideal for the slower traveller.
In fact, there are wonderful trekking and mountain biking routes starting from Greve in Chianti.
We can give you all the information you need and organise local guides on request. Greve is in the middle of the Great Tour between Siena and Florence and is indeed an excellent starting point for tours in all directions.
Cycling or walking in Chianti is an extraordinary experience that leaves a pleasant taste of the past, of pleasant and characteristic encounters and glimpses of unspoilt landscapes: vineyards, ancient castles, abbeys, monasteries and, above all, the dense network of white roads that cross hills and small villages of incredible charm.
Greve in Chianti has medieval origins and is undoubtedly one of the most famous and fascinating towns in the Chianti area. It can rightly be considered the capital of the Florentine Chianti, as it is completely immersed in its territory and is one of the largest and most important towns.
The square, with its characteristic elongated triangular shape, is framed on three sides by porticoes under which you can stroll and is animated by restaurants, historic butcher's shops, wine shops and other small craft shops. It is watched over by the statue of Giovanni da Verrazzano and the ubiquitous black rooster, symbol of the wine produced here.
Every Saturday morning there is a large open-air market in the village: it is part of the charm of Tuscany to stroll through the picturesque streets and squares of the Chianti villages and visit the markets.
In addition, every fourth Sunday of the month there is a special market called Il Pagliaio, where the protagonists are organic products and their producers.
Not far from the town centre is the fortified village of Montefioralle, perched on a hill. A real jewel where you can walk among houses and stone walls, along narrow cobbled streets that wind around the ancient castle, the original nucleus of the village.
The village offers exceptional views and a panorama that will take your breath away.
Continuing along the Via Chiantigiana towards the heart of Chianti, you will reach Panzano in Chianti. Also built at the foot of a castle, it offers fascinating medieval buildings, churches and ancient parish churches.
The town is divided into two parts: the historic centre at the top, where you can enjoy wonderful views, and the more modern part at the bottom, with restaurants, butchers and other shops selling excellent food and wine.
