Blissful River ~ Postcard-Perfect Riverfront Views
Blissful River is described by guests as an “oasis,” and it truly is. No matter the time of year, the postcard-perfect river views fascinate and inspire. You’ll see an abundance of wildlife: herons and egrets, osprey, deer, otters, ducks, bald eagles, the occasional harbor seal, and even mink right off the back porch! When the summer dams are in (mid-June to mid-September), the river is a comfortable paddle in the provided canoe and kayaks from our dock and deep enough to swim. Blissful River embodies “Porch Life” with covered decks facing the river, comfortable seating, and a warming fire table. Every season is a good time to visit and a new view of the river. Set on a third of an acre with fruit trees and private river access, you’ll love the seasonal outdoor dining and “chill” area below the house with café lighting too.
The kitchen is extremely well-appointed, and cooking is an enjoyable and memorable experience with friends and family. Wine-country touches throughout the house and kitchen include a custom backsplash with tiles from local, world-class wineries – many of which are a short drive away. You’ll appreciate the whole house water filtration system, deep pot filling faucet, stainless steel appliances, and well-designed kitchen lighting. Multiple ways to make coffee – from a standard drip coffee maker to a Kuerig – makes for even better mornings when you can take your cup of “wake up” on the porch. With comfortable bedrooms and open living, dining, and cooking spaces, guests relax, catch up, make plans, and refresh. We are happy to share this special place with guests.
Downtown Guerneville is just minutes away by car and the neighborhood is walking friendly – meet your neighbors! The Russian River Valley is home to phenomenal wineries, more adventures than you can plan, and abundant (and tasty) restaurants and creatively inspired shopping. The Sonoma Coast is just a few minutes further and Hwy 1 leads to even more possibilities.
Know Before You Book:
Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Blissful River is 4 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times.
Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 3 vehicles. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.
Bed Sizes: Primary bedroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: 2 XL Twin beds.
Heating: Primary heat is a gas fireplace with fan. Supplemental electric heat in bedrooms and radiant floor heat in the full bathroom.
Cooling: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the nighttime temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house. There are ceiling fans in each room and screens on all the windows.
Kitchen: There is a dishwasher. The kitchen is fully stocked (minus groceries) for your stay.
Bathrooms: The full bathroom is on the hallway and includes a tiled shower. The primary bedroom has an attached laundry and half bathroom.
Location: Blissful River is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park only in the designated parking spots and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community! Sound carries further on the river than you might expect.
Rural Setting and Critters: We live in a rural area with abundant wildlife! This is usually fun, but also includes ants, spiders, rodents, and larger critters from raccoons and mountain lions to bears. While we make the best effort to protect against them from coming into homes, we also do not use poison where it can harm wildlife, pets, and children. And keeping all critters out is simply not possible. We appreciate your help in putting tasty smelling items into refrigerators, proper disposal of trash, and understanding that ants (especially) come in without warning and may not have been present at the time of cleaning.
Cell Phones: Please be aware that many cell phones will not have service at this location. There is a phone and you can connect to wifi for calls.
Road to Blissful River: The road is narrow in spots - please heed the speed limit – and slow for pedestrians and pets.
Stairs and Paths: While the living areas in the house are all one level, there are 22 stairs from the closest parking spot to the front door. There is a multi-level staircase from the back deck to the area below the house and additional stairs from the yard to the seasonal dock. There is a rustic set of stairs from the closest parking space to the area below the home. Paths in the yard and outdoor stairs follow natural contours and are not evenly spaced or level.
Pet Policy: No Pets.
Fencing: The yard at Blissful River is not fenced. The back deck – overlooking the river – has a gate at the top of the stairs, so it is enclosed when all doors and the gate are closed.
Birdhouse Camera: For fun, there is a birdhouse/birdfeeder with a camera in the yard. It faces away from the house for your privacy. You’ll love seeing the bird and squirrel antics!
Work from HERE: Blissful River has a laptop ready workspace in the second bedroom. This dedicated desk includes an office chair, 24 in monitor, and outlets to plug your devices in.
Advertised Wifi Speed: Xfinity high speed.
A Note About TV: The Smart TV in the living room uses Roku to access Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, and hundreds of free streaming channels. Guests are welcome to bring their login info for these apps. The television does not have traditional cable services.
EV Charger: Blissful River has a dedicated ChargePoint Level 2 home charger.
Docks, Boats, and River Access: These are seasonal amenities and only available when conditions allow. Expect the dock, boats, and river access when the summer dams are in (mid-June to mid- September). Conditions vary from year to year and can change rapidly – use your best judgement to determine your risk level and comfort in the water/physical activity.
When available, the canoe and 2 single kayaks are locked at the dock. The dock (and second ramp) is removed when not available, but the stairs and one ramp to the dock are permanent and may be slippery year-round.
Other Outdoor Amenities:
- The area below the house is a fantastic (and seasonally available) area to hang out. Outdoor seating and dining are provided in fair weather but are put away when there’s a chance of too much rain or high water.
- A propane BBQ is provided in the yard below the house in the fair-weather months, conditions allowing - April to November – and moved to the back deck when weather turns colder.
- There are fruit trees and often veggies/culinary herbs planted in pots around the yard and decks. You are welcome to pick fruit, veggies, and herbs to enjoy during your stay – availability will vary with the season.
- There is a warming fire table on the back deck. Fuel is provided – please use safely.
A Note About Cleaning Fees: Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you support local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage, and we make sure to set the rates and fees so that our cleaners earn a living wage in beautiful Sonoma County. Not all listing sites show the cleaning fee as a separate item, so it is grouped with the rent and other fees.

Proximity to wineries: Tasting rooms and a wine bar in downtown Guerneville (1.3 mi) and Korbel Winery is 4 miles. An additional 5 minutes to Westside Road with oodles of wineries and tasting rooms.
Nearest River Beach: Johnson's Beach is the closest river beach with seasonal concessions, an easy 1.5-mile drive, and all-around fabulous place to enjoy the river, rent boats, inner tubes, beach umbrellas, and grab a beer and bite to eat - when they are open for the season. Otherwise, you can wander the beach, but the boats and concession stand will not be available.
Nearest Ocean Beach: There are many ocean beaches along the Sonoma coast, but one of the closest is Goat Rock State Beach just south of Jenner - 16 miles from the house.
