The most important part of the village is its church which was started in 1190 and has been built on the only remaining undamaged ciric in Sussex. A ciric is a circular Celtic burial ground, built above ground to ensure the graves are kept dry. This location is particularly popular with walkers and cyclists due to the famous Cuckoo Trail.
