When I arrived, the clerk and then the manager insisted that they had to write down my name and credit card number on a piece of paper (torn from a notebook) as a means of collecting the security deposit because their “system was down”. I strenuously objected and offered to leave a $100 bill with my name attached until we checked out and they could inspect the room, but they said without the credit card number, I simply wouldn’t be able to check in. Since there are very limited other lodging options in the area and I had pre-paid, I finally relented. I will now have to closely monitor that account for the remainder of this trip and request a new card once I’m home.
I don’t think they were bright enough to realize that their “system is down” because their internet is out. There was no internet access for the duration of the stay.
Additionally, they had assigned us to a room on the second floor where they were performing repairs on the roof just outside the window and directly above our room.
The inside of the lobby and the rooms look nothing like the photos.
