The Hapuku Studio

Experience the magic of Mangamaunu retreat, a unique boutique accommodation with magical views of the ocean and mountains, all year round. The property is peaceful and private, with the best views in Kaikoura. We have five acres of gardens for you to explore, from fruit orchards to sculpted native bush. We are located on the coast of Mangamaunu and within walking distance from a world-renowned surf break. Relax and recharge at one of the most stunning and special locations in New Zealand.
The Studio is one of four guest suites available on the property. This architecturally designed space features gorgeous mid-century furniture and newly renovated open-plan living. The Studio includes a queen-size bed and a spacious kitchen equipped with a fridge, gas stove top, oven, toaster, and kettle. The modern bathroom is complete with a sleek shower and toilet. French doors open up to the deck where you will be met with breathtaking views of the gardens and beach below.
The property is located 10 minutes north of Kaikoura, a beautiful beach town known for whale watching, fishing, surfing, and cycling trails. Mangamaunu Beach is a 2-minute walk down the driveway, perfect for a morning stroll, swimming, or fishing off the beach. The beach is home to many native New Zealand birds and the New Zealand fur seals.
Come and indulge yourself in the beautiful scenery, of the Kaikoura coast has to offer, from the snowy Alps to the peaceful ocean. Book one of the most memorable and special holidays now.
The Hapuku Studio sleeps two people, however we can add an additional double bed for a maximum of four guests. There is an extra cost if you are bringing 1 to 2 more people, as we will need to put another bed into the room and this includes the extra cleaning fee. Please let us know once you make your booking if you are needing the extra queen size bed.
You will have a private room, while the gardens and outdoor spaces may be shared with other guests.

Peaceful Paradise

Exceeded everything we had expected. Stunning views, lots of space to wander, beach just below. Stay more than one night to soak up the ever changing vista. Birdsong during the day, with many fantails, swallows and bellbirds together with a snowcapped backdrop. We had one stunning cloudless night to take in the milky way stretching above us with no light pollution at all. A very special place.
