This cottage is in a prime location to enjoy the magic that is the Outer Hebrides, a glorious beach within a 2-minute drive at Northton.. All on the Ground Floor:

Shower Room: Walk-In Shower, Toilet. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Fuel for wood burner available locally. . Bike store. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking.. Laxdale Cottage sits on the outskirts of the Isle of Harris’s most southerly village, Leverburgh. This bungalow provides a comfortable stay when visiting the renowned Isles of Harris and Lewis. As you enter through the front porch, an inner door leads you straight into the spacious living area, complete with a wood burner, a very comfortable leather sofa and two comfy easy chairs. Here you will have the perfect space to put your feet up after a busy day’s activities on the island. Adjoined is the dining area, and to the rear of the property is the large kitchen which comes well-equipped to rustle up your favourite dishes during your stay.
The guest bedroom has a double bed, two chest of drawers and a small Free-Sat TV, the room is double-aspect and is flooded with light.
Laxdale Cottage is a ground floor house with all rooms accessible off the main living room and guests will love how much space there is. It is in a fantastic location to visit Harris’s incredible beaches or from the pier a few minutes away take the ferry over to Uist for the day, or that extra special trip to St Kilda. At the pier you will find the Isle of Harris brewery where you can have a meal and be entrained with the occasional traditional music evening. Less than 5 minutes’ drive from the property is the well stocked local community owned shop (closed Sunday), which also sells fuel.
Nature enthusiasts, keen adventurers, and those who love taking to the water for some swimming or sea kayaking, check local conditions, will find Laxdale Cottage to be the perfect base to enjoy all the above with everything in easy reach. This fabulous island is blessed with some of the world’s most renowned white sandy beaches with the spectacular Luskentyre around 10 minutes away, with the closest beach being the wonderful Scarista beach a few minutes away.
There are also many vast sandy beaches on the road between there and Laxdale Cottage. Please take care on the beaches, they look benign but some do have sinking sands and strong currents. The crystal clear, turquoise waters which surround the coastline backed by the stunning Harris Hills are a sight to behold, and nothing short of breath-taking in real life. Harris forms the lower end of the landmass joining to the Isle of Lewis and Harris. On the two isles you will be spoilt with choice for places to visit, between incredible archaeological sites, numerous Harris tweed weavers, art galleries, museums and much more. However, the beautiful unspoilt and dramatic scenery, combined with the stunning natural environment, offer guests the ultimate getaway, and there’s no doubt you’ll come back feeling most refreshed after your stay at Laxdale Cottage.
