Standing within the beautiful grounds of Yates House estate & located in a rural, yet convenient position for a vast number of activities & sightseeing opportunitues, the cottage really the perfect holiday retreat. With views over a small lake and down the dale, a warm welcome, with a hamper of local food goodies, is sure to await you providing an ideal getaway for any time of year. Tennis, fishing & exploring the entirely private outdoors in the summer, or a winters night in front of the wood burning stove flickering throughout the spacious open plan living area. Yates Cottage is an ideal base to explore by car, or for walkers/cyclists and has access to public footpaths through Nidderdale right from the doorstep. The ‘Spa’ town of Harrogate is definitely worth a visit - famous for its magnificent architecture, upmarket shopping, Betty's tearooms, colourful gardens and the ‘Yorkshire Show’ which takes place over three days during July. The Cathedral cities of Ripon and York, together with Ilkley and its famous Moor also lie within easy reach. Close by are the pretty Dales towns of Pateley Bridge, Grassington (famous for All Creatures Great & Small) and Skipton, offering a true traditional taste of ‘life in the Dales’. Tourist attractions in the area include Stump Cross Caverns, the Duke of Devonshires sporting estate at Bolton Abbey, the world heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, the National Trust’s Brimham Rocks, or the famous RHS Harlow Carr Gardens. A well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Greeted with a welcome hamper full of Yorkshire treats and a tasty homemade cake. We didn’t meet the owners as they were away but their son was at hand and we also received an email to check in on us which I was a nice touch. Everything about the cottage was superb and the owners Sue and Andy were so helpful prior to and during our stay. Everything we needed for our two year old was on hand and being all on one level meant there were no worries about the stairs. The area is fantastic with so much to see and do, and the location and position of the cottage lovely. We will be back.
