The Staff

staff staff staff. The people made the experience. Everyone at this hotel was extremely nice and very helpful. The food was tasty and creatively served, similar to what one would experience at a fine dining restaurant. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cuba.

We loved this place! Full of quirky character and charm. The staff were incredibly friendly and sociable. We were well attended and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend if you want to be smack bang in the middle of Havana Vieja.

The hotel was not far from the Plaza Vieja which was good. But the area it was in was typical of most of Havana - run down and grubby. The hotel had been restored nicely and the rooms sympathetic to the original style and fairly basic. Don’t expect hot water. The staff were really, really nice and helpful.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to the centre of Havana. Lots of dining and shopping options. The hotel is in an impressive old building and very atmospheric, but a bit clunky - the window shutters don’t quite close, the plumbing is a bit tricky and noisy. But overall a great stay.

An oasis in the hot streets of Havana. Hostal Balcones Muralla is a place you dream about. My wife found this place on Expedia ,we were originally looking at the old classic hotels like the Inglaterra or nacional and what a choice. The building sits in the barrio streets of old Havana and is amazing. We arrived late at night and were greeted by Jorge with a smiling face and a free drink. He sat down with us and gave us loads of advice on the do's and dont's of Havana . We called these the 10 commandments and they saved us a lot of money. The bar is amazing with old antiques and paintings and great value cocktails (try the Mojitos definitely the strongest we had in Havana). We were then shown our room a beautiful two room apartment with 4 balconies looking out on the streets below. The rooms were also decorated with paintings and lovely old furniture. The bed was really comfortable and with air conditioning provided a good night's sleep every night. Every morning we came down for breakfast unlike anything we have had before with toast fruit vegetables and eggs all finished with pudding. This place is amazing but the real star of the show is the staff. After Jorge we met Adrian and Thuram who are also amazing and we spent many a late night talking about Cuba and the UK. The cleaning staff and cooks greeted us with big welcoming smiles everyday. The fabulous staff treated us like family and took our holiday to a whole new level. Thank you for an amazing time.

**Great Little Havana Hotel – Tasty Breakfast, Strong Drinks, Friendly Staff** Stayed hefe and really enjoyed it. The **4-course breakfast** was a nice surprise—good coffee, fresh fruit, eggs, and breads. The **cocktails were excellent** (try the mojito). Best part was the **staff**—always helpful and smiling. Me and my partner had a fantastic stay at this hotel! We loved our room with lovely antique furniture and the hotel bar/breakfast room was also beautifully decorated. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming and made our stay very special. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a lovely building and cosy room to explore Havana from!

Hostel Balcones is a gem!!! I have traveled around the world, and this place is now in my top two!! Customer service here is exquisite! Jorge checked us in and educated us on everything we needed to know about what to do and not to do in Havana. Jorge is also a gem…. Everyone that worked there made us feel like we were family. The place itself had so much character and charm. The breakfasts each morning were included, and the chef even cooked our eggs right in front of us!! She was top notch. Amazing how the owner took a run down building and made it into a beautiful haven…. Thank you again Hostal Balcones- we will be back!! :)

Absolutely loved our stay. Great breakfast and best Mohitos from a teapot on the roof amongst some crazy artwork. Awesome location in Old Havana within easy walking distance of everything you want to see and really close to some truly wonderful restaurants and bars. The staff are some of the best hosts I have ever experienced on my travels! … I also never leave reviews so this is a testament to this truly unique and stylish B&B / Hostel. A gem in Old Havana

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. Great location, fab decor and roof top and most of all looked after so well by all the staff who make this place special. High ceilings, quirky touches everywhere and moreish cocktails for every palate. Definitely recommend!
