The Local Yokel is in a rural setting, amongst other homes with small farms, and a southern way of life, yet very close to all you need in Hickory (Right off of HWY 321). Set in the country, it is connected to a triplex apartment building on a dead end road. The apartment has been entirely refinished on the inside with all new kitchen, stainless steel appliances, updated bathroom and combines contemporary with shabby chic.



Located on HWY 127 it is perfectly located to Downtown Hickory, Lenoir Rhyne University, Metro Convention center as well as Frye and Catawba hospitals. Restaurants, and shopping are all within a 5 minute drive. Perfect place to stay for local wedding events as well as just a quick get away to visit with family.



A dirt drive with some gravel allows for large parking area right in front of the Local Yokel. Two small decks with 2-3 steps to enter into either the front or back door. Two comfortable sitting areas in the kitchen, there are two bar stools and a table with two chairs. A futon in the living space offers another sleeping option as well. Easy access to the home with August locks, allows the guest to have their own access code or to use their phone to gain access to the home.

Nice place

I loved the location, kinda country setting. Quiet, right off the highway. The place was overall nice and clean. They supplied a few small bags of chips, water, and laundry detergent, which i thought was really nice. I'd definitely recommend and stay again if i came back.

Nice Clean Rental, Rural Yet Close to Everything

Great stay, especially for the price point! You can’t get a hotel at this price/condition. Upon arrival, we were struck by the rental’s spaciousness and cleanliness!! It had everything we needed and the host was communicative. As host indicated in listing, the neighborhood setting is rural. However, it’s close to major roadways and we were pleased with location to downtown Hickory, South Mountain, etc.

The property was as listed. The only thing that I would recommend would be a new mattress and new couch. Both were a bit uncomfortable. Otherwise all was well.
