I recently stayed at SCP Hilo Hotel and was genuinely impressed by the blend of comfort, sustainability, and aloha spirit. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the rooms were clean. Finally, the hotel is commitment to sustainability and holistic hospitality is evident throughout the property...from refillable water station (in the lobby) and recycling. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location: just a short walk from coconut island, a short drive from downtown Hilo, 5+ min drive to convenience store, 5 minute drive to Carlsmith and Richardson Park beaches, 5 minutes from the airport and surrounded by a bunch of restaurants, and coffee shops within walking distance. But the biggest highlight is the lagoon which is steps away from the lobby: clear and calm waters, lots of turtles in the morning, amazing views, perfect for a dip (better bring water shoes tho) and paddleboarding. Which you can rent for free from the hotel. Lobby is also beautiful, with a very deep pool and staff is always very friendly and welcoming. We believed that room cleanliness can be improved but overall this is such a great place we will definitely stay here again.

The Bay Area around the hotel was awesome, worth the stay alone. However, the water pressure in the bathroom/shower was sub-par and the tv was quite small. Still a good stay overall.

My fiancé and I stayed in this property on our last day in Big Island. Conveniently located 5 min away from the airport, so we had plenty of time to savor up any time we had left over on the island. There are a few local places to eat within walking distance. There is a bay across the street where you can watch kids having fun and jumping off in the water or you can stroll for a nice sunset walk. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The experience overall felt really nostalgic. I grew up in a small town like Hilo, so it felt nice to feel a little piece of home there.

We found the hotel to be clean, well kept landscaping for being an older established buildings. The pool area was beautiful, as well as, the Koi pond. The banyan park and Japanese garden, in the area, was beautiful to walk. The amenities suggested wouldn’t be something we would have been interested in trying. I thought the resort fee was too high and uncalled for.

The room was very clean. My one complaint was I didn't realize that the mini fridge was not plugged in order to save electricity. I put leftovers in and in the morning it was obvious that the food was spoiled. I suggested at checkout to put a sign on the fridge door saying it was not turned on or they leave the door open.
