The unit was excellent—very clean, well-kept and comfortable. We loved the location right near the bike path and the beautiful view. The groundskeeper was friendly and welcoming.The check-in process was extremely frustrating. We were given the wrong address and a disconnected phone number for SunQuest where we were to pickup our key. We located their phone number online, but we never received a callback from our voicemail and they never answered the phones. Our reservation initially could not be found when we arrived but the employee recognized the owner’s phone number and alluded that this owner handles things differently. After showing them our confirmation number, payment, and other correspondence with the owner through VRBO we were given the keys.The situation escalated later in the evening when the property owner abruptly called the police on us because he did not have us marked on his calendar. This occurred at 9:00 pm after we were checked-in and settled.Thankfully, Hilton Head police and Shipyard security verified our rental with SunQuest and we were able to resolve everything. The fiasco was completely uncalled for as the owner escalated the issue without trying to resolve the matter directly with us, which was all because of his disorganization and lack of coordination with SunQuest. A simple apology from the owner would have been appreciated and warranted. In the end, we would give five stars for the unit itself and zero stars for the check-in process.
