A separate desk area gives anyone who needs to squeeze in a bit of work while away a proper space to do it, away from the noise of the main living space. The dining area is just as generous, with bench seating overlooking the kitchen for casual breakfasts and a dining table seating six for when the group wants to sit down together properly.

Downstairs, three ample-sized bedrooms offer lush styling and generous wardrobe space throughout — two with double beds, and a third with a queen overlooking the backyard. Upstairs, the master suite is tucked away with its own ensuite and walk-in robe, a proper retreat for whoever wants a bit of separation from the group. Four bedrooms in total sleep up to eight guests, with two bathrooms covering the house comfortably — one fully equipped with a bath for those who like to soak the day away.

The open-plan kitchen, dining and living area is kept comfortable year-round with air conditioning, while each bedroom stays snug thanks to its own panel heater — even the bathroom gets its own heating, so no one's rushing through a shower in winter. It's the kind of detail that makes a stay feel considered rather than thrown together.

Step outside and the backyard does some heavy lifting: ample green space for kids to kick a ball around, a firepit for nights spent under the stars, and a comfortable outdoor settee that makes the whole setup feel like an extension of the living area rather than an afterthought. Location-wise, this is Blackmans Bay at its best: just 2 minutes walk from the beach, and an easy stroll to the area's cafes and restaurants such as The Beach House and Bombay on the Beach. Hobart's CBD is approximately 20 minutes by car, putting the city's galleries, dining and waterfront within easy reach while still letting you come home to a quieter coastal pace.
