We hired a car through the hotel for a day at a very reasonable rate and were driven by Tien, a lovely courteous and knowledgeable local man, it was entirely up to us where we wanted to go and at no time were we asked if we wanted to go to workshops, stores, tailors or anything else where you could be pressured into buying things. If you do not want to hire scooters etc I would thoroughly recommend doing this to see some more of the surrounding area - we did Danang, Marble Mountain, Danang Market, China Beach & Cua Dai Beach (which has unfortunately been badly eroded).
