Chickadee makes it easier for more of the family to share a week on Green Lake. A ramped entrance and step-free main floor connect the disabled parking spot, kitchen, living space and accessible king suite. The ramp and guest entrance are both wider than 32 inches, as well as interior doorways. The suite has a low-profile shower with a 2-inch threshold, grab bars at the toilet and in the shower, and room to turn a wheelchair in the bathroom. The bed sits at standard height, about 20 inches. The deck door has a 2-inch lip, and the beach is down a steeper hill that needs a second person for a wheelchair.
Three more bedrooms are upstairs, including a second king en suite. Four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms give eight guests practical privacy, and the bright kitchen and shared living spaces make gathering easy. The screened porch overlooks the water and is a favorite for coffee, reading and long conversations after dinner.
Outside are a deck, grill, fire pit and a beach shared only with Blue Jay next door. Three kayaks, two paddleboards and a canoe are shared across the three homes, and guests are welcome to bring a boat by advance arrangement. There are no televisions, but fast fiber Wi-Fi is available throughout. The house is heated and winterized, so it works well past the summer weeks. Acadia and Bar Harbor are approximately 45 minutes away.
