Great property in an amazing area. Not the best side of the mountains for Ambleside Windermere etc but in the summer the road across the mountains to those places is amazing but not for the faint hearted driver or novice. The “HARDKNOTT” is the most amazing road but also the steepest in Britain. Hotel does a great breakfast and the birds peacocks and wild life on the lawn make an amazing morning.

Wow this place is amazing stayed in cottage loved it so much so will definitely book again. We seen deer heard owls had chickens and beautiful peacocks. Staff are great. Dog friendly in bar where does serve food however there’s not many seats so pre book. We couldn’t get a seat so went to another dog friendly pub however plenty seats in morning for breakfast which was very nice and done vegetarian one for my son.

Our second visit to Irton Hall. All staff were very pleasant. Even though the receptionist did send us up to the first floor for our room, which was a struggle as I am disabled. We didn't even realise that the room number was the same room we stayed in last year. Breakfast was a delight. The only thing I thought would be better was the tv being on the wall instead of the table.

Location: Isolated but not surprising given the area. Pleasant grounds. Bar uninviting, nothing in the way of a lounge. So nothing to do in evenings. Dull.

Cosy,chilled stay

Pros: Everything
Cons: Worked for us
Location: Great for exploring
Only stayed for one night,(Sunday) arrived cold,but soon warmed up,hotel was lovely and warm,we arrived early,so we couldn't check in,we took advantage of the house soup,wow it was hot and tasty,the snow was falling which made our soup feel more homely,a few real ales later,and our room was ready,it was warm and cosy,plenty of room and the bathroom was large,we ate in the resteraunt that evening,once again the food was hot and plentyful,sleep was uninterrupted,,the only noise I heard was from the local owl,breakfast was hot and filling,big enough to keep us going for most of the day..thanks guys.

Never disappoints

Pros: Everything
Cons: Just a small thing I noticed,workmen wandering into the kitchen with dirty clothes etc to top up there mugs with water etc,
Location: Easy access to the lakes and west Cumbrian towns and shops,rugged coastline
Another fabulous stay at the hall,nice friendly staff,great tasty food,room so cosy,
