Hotel Route Inn Honjo Ekiminami
"It’s very tightly run, on the verge of militaristic- I felt like I was being judged as a potential towel thief lol - I understand it’s maybe hard right now- it’s an old hotel- vintage/ retro at this point, but pretty well kempt. I felt so much of their efforts to keep it up. I asked for non smoking and I was kind of nervous due to the past reviews- it would have been a nightmare if it smelled like a smoke- I asked specifically and the room was clean, well maintained and no smoke smell. So yay :)) Bed and pillows were somehow awesome and loved them- I could feel the quality. All in all, they seem to put energy towards the important parts, well kept, breakfast was nice and lots of variety- Japanese style, and more western, both :)) The large bath for women were not very big, but still much nicer than the unit bath for sure :)) it was actually man made hot spring water, not just plain- with healing benefits and I was happy to read it :) It was a bit annoying that I had to bring back the wet used towel to my room- it was strongly emphasized- I guess lots of people steal their towels?? To be honest, it’s very thin and nothing luxurious - so I wonder.. 😅 There were nice touches like regular slippers, and disposable ones along with the spa PJ and a bag to carry towels etc down. I tried both massager and foot reflexology machines- they were kind of older and not the best- All n all it’s a biz hotel… it def keeps up with basic comfort for that purpose I think :))"

"The first room smelled like sewage sadly, I reported it and the front staff promptly put me in the new room and it was nice and clean, no issues- I’m suspecting some old pipes maybe? But other than that, I really appreciated their hearty breakfast menu option you can add, they seemed more thoughtfully prepared than what you would expect from breakfast buffet- Staffs are cordial, nice and helpful :)) The big bath area is a very nice addition - I do wish it smelled more like Hinoki and wondered how long those balls have been in the bath- it didn’t really have much scents- but it’s clean, great amount of amenities. I will return :)) "
