One of Maui's popular vacation spots, Papakea is a peaceful Hawaiian Style low rise resort situated on 13 acres right on the ocean just a short walk to north Kaanapali Beach. The lushly landscaped grounds are immaculately maintained and adorned with red ginger and red palms. At dusk, every evening, the magical twinkling tiki lights are lit and reflect on the Koi ponds through-out the property. Papakea's location is as good as it gets! Within minutes, an easy walk to Duke's, shopping center, Farmers Market, coffee shops, sandy beaches, snorkeling and surfing.

Canal Repair Project Notice:
Papakea Resort will undergo a canal repair project from December 17, 2025 through mid-September 2026. Work will take place Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Guests may experience significant construction noise during these hours. Equipment and materials will be staged along the canal, resulting in limited parking in some areas.
Holiday work is not expected.

Papakea is located close to several restaurants and shopping. Views of the whales, during season, are right out from the lanai. Washer and dryer in the room is a bonus.

Our favorite thing about this property was watching 3 baby whales' antics every morning and evening from the lanai, just like playful puppies breaching and slapping their tails and waving their flippers. This corner unit was just perfect for our needs. We will rent here again.

Beautiful place to stay and loved the oceanfront view

The property was very nice and enjoyable during our stay. We would stay again if they cleaned it a little better. The host brought us a new broom to help us clean up. I would find a way to have the garbage can under the sink instead of open in the kitchen. The bed was nice, however either needs a new mattress or protective cover.

Corner Room - Perfect

The corner room and Lanai were perfect every morning to drink our coffee, hear and see the crashing waves and people watch. The sunsets from the Lanai 🌄 were amazing. I will be framing some of my pictures. We saw a beautiful rainbow 🌈 also. This is a quiet property, wish they had a bar and restaurant though.

The room was very nice and comfortable. A couple of times I had to call the property manager with slight problems. I was always greeted warmly and the efficiency of the staff and representatives who came to our unit were both very impressive.

Right on the ocean!

Looked exactly as pictured. The lanai was awesome, room for two loungers and a table. Stayed in December and was able to leave the sliding glass doors/windows open all the time and even though the bedroom is in the back, was able to hear the ocean all night long. There is a place with coffee and great pastries (Cruzin' Cafe just a block away). Also loved Honokowai Okazuya which was also walking distance; great to grab take out there and eat on the lanai. There is a back entrance for pedestrians and cars to the property which was nice since this building was a little ways from the main entrance. Great beach about two hotels away (5 minute walk). Pools were nice, but not shaded.

The view the people the island this hole place was amazing and all ready trying to figure out my next stay here and I recommend 2weeks cause 7 days for us was not long enough. We absolutely loved A301. We’ve stayed at Papakea many times before, this was the best!!! Great view, super condo, fully stocked with everything you could want. Even comes with beach chairs, beach towels, cooler and gear. Saw tons of whales, spinner dolphins and turtles right out back! Thank you for a great trip to Maui!

Great Room

The property and the unit were great! The fee that VRBO is charging now is really becoming very high. I don't think it is right to have the fee be a percentage of the total cost of the unit. I think a smaller flat rate would be appropriate . When you add the VRBO fee to the cost of the rental it really drives up the cost!
