We loved the location for this property and the staff was excellent! The downside were the inevitable roaches in the room (its the tropics so you should expect the occasional visitor) and the entirely too soft, worn out bed. I woke up with a back ache so bad I could barely walk. Add to this the fact that we were put in the room right next to the entry hall and check in desk. This room should not be a guest room or it should be a half-price room because the noise from the area immediately outside our door was ridiculous. We got no sleep at all on the night we stayed. A $300 per night room should be a great room. This wasn't. We would stay there again but only if we got a room on an upper floor away from all the noise, and if the beds were replaced with firmer mattresses.

Overpriced for the Quality

First night pool & bar was closed but we were offered $30 food credit for inconvenience which was nice for them to offer. Hotel is outdated. No elevator just stairs. AC in room seemed to not work properly. Service from staff was great I have to give them that. The hotel just needs some updating. For the price we paid it’s definitely overpriced in my opinion.

Some good and some bad. Decent location but dirty. The courtyard was cute (but loud until 10pm every night - the walls aren’t insulated and so the noise came into the room. After 10 and before 9am it was great!) The birds were chirping in the lush greenery - it felt a little like being in a treehouse and only a block and a half from Waikīkī. The fish were a fun and unexpected addition. We had an issue with a dirty bed and the staff were friendly and addressed quickly. The $40/day for an air bed was aggressive. Save some $$ and head to Target (1/2 block a way) and grab one! The rugs were very dirty and stained. They were so dirty they were sticky in some places and the shower floors were stained. We all wore slippers everywhere and sand shoes in the shower. The ceiling fan was an essential addition to the comfort of the room and worked very well. We did try the food and beverages from the bar which were good. If you are around during the day, the guava slushees are delish! We made good use of the beach chairs and boogie boards which were all in good shape. We liked being close to all the restaurants of Waikīkī just wish the space was a bit more clean.

The bartender at night (on 4/20) was very rude and didn’t even acknowledge us except to tell us to move our chair out of the well. We are all in the industry and were ready to spend money and tip well. The server on the other hand was very friendly and took our order and closed us out no problem. Additionally, there was tree trimming on 4/21 which we were not informed about until the night before. The entire bar and pool area was closed all morning/early afternoon. The rest of the staff was friendly and the hotel room was clean.

White Sands hotel is GREAT ! , Jericho and his team there always provide the best experience and aloha ! . Room rates are very reasonable and the food is always good . I would recommend the White Sands to anyone visiting Hawaii .

Unfortunately, the experience did not meet acceptable standards, particularly concerning cleanliness and hygiene. There were both live and dead cockroaches in the room, which was extremely unsettling. Even more concerning, my child and I both woke up with insect bites. While I cannot confirm whether they were from bedbugs, the presence of pests in a guest room is unacceptable and raises serious health and safety concerns. This situation caused a great deal of discomfort and distress during our stay. I have uploaded some pictures of them here

Charming hotel with great staff

Lovely, smaller sized hotel in a very convenient location close to the beach, shops, restaurants and the best coffee in Waikiki (Kona Coffee Purveyors). Rooms are spacious and very clean, and staff are wonderful.
