With its rolling landscapes, dramatic peaks, and miles of scenic trails, Edale attracts walkers, cyclists, and nature lovers looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of the English countryside.
Nature and Outdoor Adventure
Edale offers some of the best hiking routes in the country, including trails leading up to Kinder Scout – the highest point in the Peak District – with panoramic views that stretch for miles. A quaint village shop offers essentials and locally-made goods, and nearby farms provide fresh produce, including renowned local cheeses and baked goods. You can also discover local arts and crafts in surrounding villages, each with its own unique charm.

Edale is the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. With limited cell service and plenty of fresh air, it's an escape from the hustle and bustle, encouraging you to slow down and soak up the natural beauty. Getting Around:
Edale is a charming village in the heart of the Peak District National Park, offering visitors an ideal starting point for exploring the beautiful landscapes of the region. Known as the starting point of the iconic Pennine Way, Edale is perfect for walking enthusiasts, and trails range from gentle riverside strolls to challenging hikes up Kinder Scout and Mam Tor.
By Train:
Edale has its own train station, with regular direct trains connecting to Manchester and Sheffield, making it easily accessible from major cities. The station is a quick walk from the village center, and trains run frequently, especially on weekends.
By Car:
While Edale is remote, it's accessible by car, with parking available in designated areas around the village and at various trailheads. Some roads are narrow and winding, so take care when driving, especially in winter.
On Foot:
Edale is best explored on foot! The village is small, and the network of public footpaths makes it easy to reach nearby attractions and scenic viewpoints. Walking routes are well-signposted, and you can find maps and information in local cafes or the visitor center.
Public Buses:
Though limited, local bus services run between Edale and other nearby villages in the Peak District. However, schedules may be infrequent, so plan accordingly or consider a taxi for flexible travel.
Cycling:
Cycling is a popular option for getting around, with bike rentals available in nearby towns. Be prepared for hilly terrain and stunning but sometimes challenging routes!
With spectacular scenery and excellent connectivity, Edale is both a peaceful getaway and a convenient base for exploring the Peak District. Whether you're here for a weekend of relaxation or an active outdoor adventure, Edale makes it easy to enjoy the best of the area.
Other Things to Note:
No smoking
No parties
Pets aren't allowed on the furniture or upstairs.
The heating is a little different in this cottage, but works really well and is certainly something people will love!
"The property features central heating powered by wood pellets. Extra electric heaters are placed around the house for additional warmth. Instructions for the heating system (Feeding the Beast!) are available, and the wood pellets are stored in the wooden shed in the yard."
Interaction with Guests:
We are always available to contact via phone/email/sms and will have someone available in person for emergency purposes.
