Hayloft is one of 3 cottages at Strawfields. Strawfields is an 8 acre small holding consisting of our farmhouse, three cottages, shepherd huts and a small rustic campsite. A fantastic location, hidden away in the beautiful North Devon countryside, yet only minutes drive from the sea.
Hayloft is full of character and lots of charming quirky features. The best of both worlds; private and cosy rural location, yet with the added bonus of a games room, trampolines and beaches close by. You can explore the fields, paddle in the streams, toast marshmallows in the fire pit and meet the animals.
Sleeps 2 adults + 2 children
A warm and cosy 16th century cottage with a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, oven and electric hob. Open plan sitting/dining room with large sofa and smart TV.
The main bedroom has a double bed, chest of drawers, hanging rail and hair dryer. The second bedroom has bunk beds (shorty bunk beds, 5ft 9 long, suitable for children only) Upstairs WC and shower room.
Hayloft opens onto a large safe gated courtyard for children to play in
the games barn is just across the yard from the cottage so you can relax and watch your children play from the comfort of your sofa.
There is outside seating in the sunny courtyard with BBQ
Strawfields has trampolines, a large fire pit, perfect for star gazing and toasting marshmallows. There is plenty of space to store bikes and boards and a warm drying room for wet suits (available in the cooler months)
Please note: Hayloft cottage has a few unusual quirky C16th characteristics. We’ve yet to find a straight wall in the cottage.​​ ​Hayloft is adjoined to the Farmhouse, but is totally self contained with a private entrance. Please mind your head as you enter the property as there is a low doorway!

Hayloft is a both child friendly and dog friendly. It suits both couples and families. There are acres to explore and a public footpath runs behind the property that goes to our nearest village, West Down, which boasts an excellent pub and village shop. For children there are a range of toys to suit all ages, including scooters, table tennis, playmobile, lego and 2 sunken trampolines. Our relaxed friendly atmosphere will hopefully ensure that you have a fantastic holiday, however long or short your stay with us. There is so much to see and do, including four wonderful sandy beaches as well as many coves and rock pooling beaches. It is a great place for walking, kayaking, surfing, dune sledging and coasteering. The Tarka trail is very family friendly bike riding route along the coast.
Fantastic location, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe less than 5 miles and Combe Martin, Braunton, Croyde, Exmoor National Park, Lynton and Barnstaple are all within 15/20 mins drive.
Guests are welcome to explore all of the grounds and there is a communal games barn that is shared with two cottages.

We totally respect your privacy when staying in your cottage, but we are available at anytime during your stay, if you need something please ask. We live in the adjacent farmhouse, so always on hand for any questions you may have. We are able to suggest places to go including dog friendly walks and beaches to visit; we have lots of maps and brochures to help you choose your activities during your stay.

Please Note:
Dogs must be kept on leads in the courtyard and fields.
1 dog allowed (please email Alex if you would like to request more)
2 adults and 2 children is the maximum amount of people. This cottage is not suitable for 4 adults, due to children bunk beds in the second bedroom.
No Smoking.

This cottage offers its guests barbecue grills, an arcade/game room, and a garden. The front desk is open around the clock.

This Ilfracombe cottage is smoke free.
