Birch Cottage is one of three characterful, semi-detached farm cottages built in the 19th century. Set 10 minutes out of Inverness, surrounded by pasture and woodland (Highland cows are regular visitors!) and close to the coast as well as sandy beaches, Birch Cottage offers the opportunity to have a truly excellent base for your Highland holiday. The accommodation itself is characterful and spacious. There’s a decent, well-equipped kitchen, open-plan living/dining room with amazing old stove from the mid-20th century, a family bathroom, and two bedrooms (a double and a twin) all on the ground floor. Up on the first floor there’s another double bedroom. There’s a shared garden with Rowan Cottage and Pine Cottage, which wraps around the properties and offers many lovely places to sit and simply gaze out at the surrounding countryside.

Easter Dalziel Farm is to the east of Inverness, along the back road to Nairn. It is less than a mile to the sea and only a few miles from a pebbly beach where you can spot resident bottenose dolphins every day of the year. Sandy beaches await in Nairn or across the Moray Firth on the Black Isle at Rosemarkie. Birch Cottage is an excellent base for your holiday in the Highlands. The Highland capital Inverness is very close and offers so much to the visitor. Loch Ness is only 10 minutes further on to the west from Inverness and the road beyond beckons to the west coast, Isle of Skye and Ben Nevis. The NC500 starts and finished in Inverness so you can easily pick this world-famous touring route up and head north to explore some iconic spots. To the south, only 40 minutes by car you can be in Aviemore in the Cairngorms National Park either hiking and biking in the summer or skiing in the winter. And finally to the east beyond historic Nairn the Moray Coast with amazing fishing villages awaits, and so too does the Speyside Whisky Trail. When not rushing around in the car you may want to either simply relax at the cottage. At Birch Cottage this is a popular choice. Watch the sheep and lambs as well as Highland ‘coos’ and calves come and go. There’s also excellent fly-fishing nearby with some of the best salmon rivers in the UK only a short drive away. And golf courses are of a very high standard and plentiful - Castle Stuart Links is only a few hundred yards away and Nairn has two championship links courses to play.
