About this property
Cosy apartment in beautiful rural Aberdeenshire, convenient for shire and city.
The apartment is a tastefully appointed, self-contained, upstairs annex within our house set in beautiful and tranquil Aberdeenshire countryside.
Located on the lower slopes of the Correnie Hills, foothills of the Grampian Mountains, but within half an hour's drive of Aberdeen city and airport. Set in two acres of grounds, which we manage for wildlife and invite guests to enjoy, including use of the attractive and peaceful summer house next to the large wildlife pond, with unrivalled views across to the Hill of Fare. Guests also have their own secluded patio in the attractive private garden area next to their entrance.
The apartment is comfortably furnished and appointed to a high standard with an environmentally sustainable ethos, using upcycling and reuse to furnish and equip, and sustainably sourced linens and towels. Beautiful views from the windows add to the ambiance. The light and airy ensuite bedroom and cosy sitting room open off the attractive open plan kitchen and dining area.
Set in beautiful and peaceful countryside, several walks start from the house through fields and woodland along local tracks and quiet lanes, which can be explored.
Within 20 minutes drive of the property is the magnificent Castle Fraser, the beautiful Craigievar Castle; Alford Motor Museum; four enigmatic, Bronze Age recumbent stone circles; several Forestry Commission forests with walking and mountain bike trails and the Bennachie range, which provides wonderful hillwalking and superlative views.
Slightly further afield are several enigmatic carved Pictish symbol stones; the wonderful gardens of Crathes Castle, Drum Castle and Leith Hall and the attractions of Aberdeen City, including the prestigious Aberdeen Art Gallery; dolphin watching at the harbour; the characterful, traffic free, old fishing village of Footdee (pronounced Fittie) the impressive Gordon Highlanders Museum and the beautiful St. Machar's Cathedral. Those venturing over to the coast can experience the atmospheric cliff top Dunnottar Castle and the nearby attractive harbour town of Stonehaven.
For those wanting to explore further, the magnificent panorama and mountain walking opportunities of Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park await (45 minutes to Ballater), plus the delights of Speyside and its whisky distilleries.
Being the home of Wild History and Whisky Tours, we can also offer private guided tours of our beautiful region.
