From the minute your step thru the door.. Christmas cheer abounds. The welcoming staff, cocoa, marshmallows and gingerbread. The decor makes you smile immediately. The inner child’s recalls Christmas’s past.. Pure fun and warm fuzzies. The inn itself, is old and charming in its imperfections. The food is fabulous. Make reservations. Take a complimentary shuttle to The Thorn hill Inn for breakfast. Nestle book is the go to for sleigh rides, skating etc. Special place..

Room and staff were fine. However, we stayed the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving day. When we checked in we were told they would not be servicing breakfast on Thanksgiving morning because they were serving Thanksgiving dinner at 1:00. They gave us names of places we might get breakfast, but had not done the work to call them to see if they were open Thanksgiving day. In fact they were not and we had to go to a convenience store to get something to eat for breakfast. I feel their customer service lacked in this situation, and they should have let us know about the situation when we made the reservation.

We celebrated our anniversary here, and it was the perfect setting for a quiet, romantic getaway. We stayed in a carriage house suite, with convenient parking right out front, a nice little gas fireplace and jacuzzi, balcony, comfortable bed, and the room was clean and quiet. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and both were delicious, but the food at dinner was excellent and definitely a highlight. Service was a bit slow in the dining room, particularly at breakfast, but we understand places are understaffed right now, and went into both meals in no rush, and were happy to wait and enjoy each other's company.

I booked this inn very last minute, so when I arrived everyone was fairly settled, it seemed I was the last to check in (around 7:30pm), my room was lovely and included a jacuzzi tub, I couldn’t get the jacuzzi to work but I think that was me not reading the instructions properly perhaps. I was offered a warm apple cider on arrival (delicious). It was easy to pull in to and parking was ample. The only thing I will say is that I had questions, usual stuff about the restaurant, spa, property, and the staff looked at me as if I was a bit strange for asking questions or wanting to explore the different areas of the property? I’m not sure if people usually just stay in their rooms there perhaps. I wanted to get a massage but the spa doesn’t do walk-ins, appointment only but they didn’t have anyone available to make an appointment. The restaurant was closed the next morning when I attempted to go for breakfast. And the fire wasn’t lit in reception room at the front of the building (it was definitely cold enough and that is shown in the photos so I felt it was a little bit of false advertising). I would give this place 4/5, and I would come back but I’d probably plan ahead to make sure I could utilize all of their facilities.
