ENJOY NATURE:

Get away from the hustle and bustle and ENJOY NATURE! Throughout the day and night, you will be listening to the beauty of relaxing nature sounds from a variety of different types of bird songs, varying forest sounds and waterfalls flowing. The Gardens at Stone Leaf Farm also known as healing gardens, therapeutic gardens, and restorative gardens have natural healing effects and sounds of peacefulness and tranquility.

Exposure to nature sounds, particularly those of water and birds have a calming effect on the body and mind. Hearing these sounds (even the sounds of crickets at night) promote a sense of comfort and relaxation with an impressionable calming effect on the body and mind.

Crickets' sound is the most typical and soothing sound of the forest “at night” for both summer and autumn seasons. And, birdsong sounds are the most typical and soothing sound of the forest “during the day” especially in spring and summer seasons. The melodic tunes of songbirds serve as a sign of peace and well-being returning us to a place of ‘equilibrium’ balance.

Stone Leaf Farm is great for meditation and mindful relaxation. Calm your body and mind with relaxing sounds of nature. Waterfall sounds are perfect for relaxing and meditation. Our waterfalls are a natural source of White Noise and ideal for sleep and masking distracting sounds. Forest sounds, waterfalls and more are perfect for background sounds for working, studying, writing, reading, falling asleep faster and/or just relaxing.

The Orchards & Gardens:

The Orchards and Gardens here at Stone Leaf Farm are our way of maintaining a sustainable ecosystem that supports life and provides a balance for human(s), animals, and plant life. Along with being nestled in the Forest, the Orchards and Gardens create a space for a variety of wildlife such as birds, bees, and butterflies. Bees and butterflies are crucial pollinators, helping plants reproduce and sustain ecosystems.

The Fruit and Nut Orchards produce a variety of fruit and nuts. We grow and maintain a host of organic berry trees/plants and a variety of vegetables. These varieties deliver bountiful harvests and lasting beauty. Especially during seasons Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Guests should only walk on paved and marked walkways, pathways and trails that are visibly identified throughout the property. Staying on marked walkways helps protect the surrounding environment and vulnerable plants and wildlife.

This is definitely a place to ‘get away from it all’, Enjoy Quiet, rural surroundings close to the wineries and wine tasting in Loudoun County Virginia (10 miles), the iconic Potomac River (1 mile away), Appalachian Trail (32 miles) and Shenandoah National Park (61 miles). This is a beautiful area of mountains and valleys, known for inspiring lookouts and waterfalls.

Your Vacation Rental Guesthouse:

This Vacation Rental Guesthouse overlooks a beautiful landscape oasis with a majestic display of natural stone, flowering trees, cascading waterfalls, a Japanese Garden, a Tea House with a soaring ceiling & wood stove, flowers, stone steps & ledges, dry stone beds, arched walking bridge and the most beautiful stargazing sky we’ve ever seen. All designed with the intent to maintain existing natural habitat.

The Guesthouse is 1,100 sq. ft. of efficiency space, which will be ideal for your stay and is nestled in the woods along a mountain side about a mile from the Potomac River. Once entering the property, guests will make their way up the driveway to the Guesthouse. Situated on the northwestern side of the property the Guesthouse brings a blend of comfort and relaxation.

The Guesthouse has a private entrance, the main level has a Large Great Room with a vaulted ceiling and Loft and features a massive arch style “mill window” with views of the Forest and Japanese Garden. The Loft overlooks the Great Room and is a charming area uniquely designed as a reading and meditation space.

The Vacation Rental Guesthouse has a cooling and heating system with a lovely wood-pellet stove.

Experience All The Seasons:

The property is suited for all 4- Seasons. Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. The seasons vary with each proving its own unique experience and attributes. Summer is the time to take advantage of the warm/hot weather. This season brings bright blooms and a myriad of birds and wildlife return to the property and blossoming fields. During summer the property opens the swimming pool. Guests will have private rented use separate from Vacation Rental Guesthouse.

Autumn. Generally, the best time to view Fall colors are near the end of September and beginning of October. The Fall foliage show brings a kaleidoscope of leaf colors for many weeks. This annual spectacle, shows a stunning display of leaf transformation from greens to vibrant hues of reds, oranges, yellows, browns and purples.

We welcome you to stay during the winter season. Winter season is just spectacular. The accumulation of snow in winter months transforms the property into a blanketed snowy but peaceful and tranquil forest. Winter birds such as the Northern Cardinals sing year-round on the property and can be found foraging for food across the snow-covered grounds and bird feeders.

For Winter sports activities there are several nearby ski resorts including Snow Riders at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia where you find the best snow tubing slope on the East Coast! With cold and snowy winters Springtime is undoubtedly the most loved time of the year.

During Spring time, the entire property sways to the rhythms of the heart; induced by the beauty of nature, songbirds, flowering trees and blossoms of greenery and vibrant colors of flowers. The Rose Garden shows a beautiful bouquet of flowers full of colors and blooms.

All-year round: Stunning Scenic Views and Happenings

On-site we have beautiful Orchards, Gardens, Waterfalls, and Forest views with access to walking trails, grilling, hanging out by the fire-pit in the fire pit circle, swimming in the pool and enjoying many ‘nature’ ventures during your Vacation Rental Guesthouse stay.

Much needed get away

We enjoyed our stay. The proximity to Frederick and Harper’s Ferry is very convenient. It’s lovely to site by the water fall and the pool was nice as well Owner has stocked the kitchen with lots of goodies and nice things in the bathroom as well There is a very musty order that hits you the minute you walk in. We considered only staying a night but we really wanted this must needed get away. I tried to reach out to Andrew after I left directly to let him know but there is a mushroom growing in the bathroom out of the wall under the toilet. I did not notice that but my husband took a picture. You walk up big rocks/stones from the car to the entrance. They are spaced unevenly and some are further apart than others. I fell the second day and scrapped my leg and arm. I made sure to only wear sneakers the rest of the time I went up and down. I would really suggest a railing of some kind. I can not be the only one that has had an issue but he has a sign that says slippery when wet. I bet it is The loft has a bed that is comfortable but even 1 person has trouble standing. They needed dormers. 1 slept up, 1 slept on the sofa The main living area of very nice and cozy. A big TV with streaming channels and it was very quiet.

Perfect Location for a Getaway Weekend

I feel like I hit the jackpot, the level of hospitality provided by the owner was beyond anything I've experienced in a vacation rental. There was kindness and care evident in every aspect of the location, from the beautifully manicured landscaping and gorgeous wooded grounds, to the super well stocked kitchen. Ten out of Ten would recommend to anyone who wanted a break from city life in a beautiful natural setting and all the amenities of a well-stocked home.

50th birthday getaway

If you like hazardous chemical sprays and plug-ins in your rental, then this is the place for you. I could smell the fake air freshener before I even entered the door. I spent majority of my time sitting out on the bench. When I did go inside, my throat would feel tight and tingly. We went into town to get Benadryl and decided not to even stay the night. There are only a couple of reasons to use fake chemical cancer-causing air fresheners and that is to mask a problem. I removed all of the sprays and plug-ins and that is when you could smell the underlining problem of must and water damage. I told him that I was having issues with the air fresheners and removed them from the rental and he agreed that he didn’t like them as well. I asked the owner if they would meet me halfway with a partial refund since I did not spend a single night in the property and they refused saying the problem was mine and that I should see a doctor concerning my allergies. It was really quite unprofessional as they know they are masking a problem. In my refund request, Andrew told me that he was “no expert” but he would seek medical help as this was a me problem. Well Andrew, I am no expert” but I would start with a dehumidifier and damp X bags to help with your water problem. I paid these guys $800 to spend three hours at their property!!! I currently have a request in with VRBO for a full refund but they have refused to answer any correspondence with VRBO for nearly a week. Andrew also told me that his property was far better than staying at a hotel. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a hotel where I could smell fake air fresheners before I even enter the door. If I did, I certainly would not stay there either! No rental should ever have any sprays plug-ins candles incense potpourri

Expectations, rules according to owner and online listing costs

Ambience of guest house and grounds were very enjoyable as expected. However, the online listing of rates per day was significantly lower than the actual charged rates. If this typical for the State of Maryland, in the future we will need to know what the actual total charges will be at time of booking and not rely on advertised rates listed online. In addition, after arrival the ower advised us of "rules" regarding our visiting guests, such as names and ages for each guest, how long a period will each guest be visiting, what will be the total number of guests at each visit and what will each visitor be doing on grounds. The ower stated all of the above information should have been prearranged at time of booking. Furthermore, owner stated there could be addtional fees for having visitors. Booking agent, Vrbo, provided no such requirements nor did owner communicated these rules to us prior to check in. This issue was very distressing for us to learn following a long drive and with guests expected to arrive within 15 minutes. Either booking agent and/or owner should have provided these requirements to us at time of booking or at least prior to check in. We doubt Vrbo, based on our previous experiences with them, have the capacity to make such detailed delineations at the time of booking. Therefore, the ower should have initiated and informed us of these requirements at least prior to check in. In summary the stay was delightful, except for the first two hours after check in. If the above two issues are not addressed, I doubt I will refer any family nor friends to this place, no matter how charming it may be. Dr. & Mrs. Ho New York, New York July 8 to July 11, 2021

A Zen Getaway outside of Baltimore/DC

A short drive out from Baltimore on our way to Harpers Ferry - serene with water streaming 24-7. Very private and access to a pool right by the owners' house. No kayaks available on the property but both rivers (Shenandoah and Potomac) very accessible and water sports are rentable on a daily basis. We had a great time - they have a brand new charcoal grill and honestly, we couldn't have been more relaxed! The pool was a little dirty but the guest house was impeccable and well-stocked! Thanks for the vino!

Great retreat -- location and property

This guest house is perfect for a stay-in-and-read escape from everything, but close to lots of outdoor activities. And it's just as described, including the gardens and waterfall. The house is as nicely decorated and furnished as any we've rented, beautifully maintained, and was absolutely immaculate. And I know we've never had a vacation rental that included such an amazingly well-stocked pantry. Add the helpful and welcoming hosts, and you couldn't ask for more.

The hosts were always responsive and available, but never intrusive! the property is beautiful, we loved sitting outside having our morning coffee. There is not much to do off property in the immediate area, but driving to Harper's Ferry and Leesburg for hiking and dining was easy. I hope we get a chance to return!

Wonderful guest house, within minutes of gorgeous hikes (Maryland Heights, Appalachian Trail, C&O Towpath) and great restaurants. Andrew was very helpful in providing dining suggestions. Awesome place to stay to commune w/ nature!

Pros: Lovely property (we enjoyed the Japanese garden very much, strolling through the gardens was relaxing and rejuvenating, the grounds were clearly very well maintained and the surroundings were just gorgeous), quiet neighborhood, comfortable bed and comfy couches for lounging at the end of the day, very friendly host, great access to Potomac, C&O canal trail, well stocked pantry, complimentary bottle of wine, comfy robes, nice towels and linens, very good toiletries, and nice kayaks available to rent. If biking C&O canal, this would be a perfect place to overnight or weekend while en route! Cons: Window screens need replacing, all are very damaged, it'd be nice to be able to open the windows and let in fresh air w/out letting in all the bugs. :) Bed is in a very cramped loft w/ low ceilings, the bed is up against a wall so getting in/out of bed at night is tricky to avoid bumping your partner and/or your head. It was OK for my husband and I, but I felt obligated to post that here as it wasn't that clear in the listing that this was the sleeping situation. The gate to get in/out of the property is a little clunky but you get used to it. Overall, my husband and I had a lovely stay, we had a weekend full of outdoor adventures and truly appreciated the kindness and helpfulness of the host. The pros outweighed the cons by far, we would absolutely consider staying here again, and I would recommend this place to anyone seeking to be close to the Potomac River and enjoying the outdoors, while having a very comfortable place to come back to at night!

Beautiful garden and landscaping

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate his birthday. We were attending two family gatherings in nearby Frederick and we also wanted to hike along the trails overlooking the Potomac . This was perfectly located between the two and offered a peaceful getaway. As others mentioned, we arrived to our cottage and could smell the homemade apple pie as we entered. It was delicious! The cottage was perfect and we enjoyed our mornings drinking coffee on the bench in the front overlooking the spectacular waterfall. Someone is a master hardscape artist! *note for owner: although we had brought our own coffee, yours was so good we used it instead. I’m hoping you can let me know what brand you use.

Cozy Winter Getaway

After our first trip in October 2020, we could not wait to come back! While we enjoyed beautiful fall foliage in October, this time we were treated to lovely snow covered trees and crisp air. With the colder temperatures, we utilized the pellet stove (after a lesson from the amazing Marc!) and honestly, it's better than a fireplace. I spent each morning sitting by the stove, looking out the huge picture window with my coffee -- simply sublime! Everything was amazing once again -- VERY CLEAN AND TIDY, and fully stocked with snacks and bathroom items, and anything you could need from a heated blanket to curl up with on the couch to delightful artisan honey to drizzle in my morning coffee. Excellent job salting and shoveling icy / snowy driveway and walkways!! We absolutely love this place, and the owners could not be nicer. Highly recommended!

Perfect place to escape for Christmas

The cottage was in excellent condition and was extremely clean. The location is fantastic; short distance to hiking, dining and shopping. The kitchen was graciously stocked with plenty of snacks, pantry items, drinks and fresh fruit. This small investment in pantry options made us feel welcome, and the complimentary wine was much appreciated after a 2-hour long drive in a downpour. We have stayed in literally dozens of vacation homes over the years and this is now at the top of our list. Scenic, Secluded Cottage Getaway

Stone Leaf Farm delivered just what the pictures promised — a quiet, clean cottage that is well-appointed, well-stocked for basic needs and situated on a beautiful, woodsy property. It was a perfect escape during the pandemic and afforded a chance to hike on the C&O Canal, discover the Catoctin Aqueduct and enjoy a host of distilleries and breweries on both sides of the MD-VA border. Check-in and access were easy and secure. Highly recommend a stay at Stone Leaf Farm.
