A smelly room and rude management. When I checked in. It smelled awful; admittedly, I should have told them about that right away, but I was overly optimistic that perhaps the smell would dissipate, plus I had spent the day hiking in Joshua Tree, and was at the property for a concert, so I did not have the time or energy to deal with it. I did not spend any time in the room until I went to sleep. At 1:30 am, the stench awoke me and I was unable to fall back asleep. I then spent 90 minutes on the phone and waiting for return calls from the management company. The representative told me falsely that they'd help, but nobody ever called me back. I had to pay for a room elsewhere. The management did not believe my story, basically saying that I lied. They claimed that their housekeeper said it smelled fine before I checked in and that they had somebody smell the room afterwards and it smelled fine then too. I have absolutely no motivation to lie. It's obvious that I am telling the truth--I stayed at a Hilton hotel ten minutes down the road, checking in there at 3 am. They offered to refund me 15%, and did so, but that is not satisfactory. I shouldn't have to pay for 2 rooms one night. They will not treat you well. Stay elsewhere.

We loved staying here! The room was wonderful and we got takeout from the cafe and ate on our patio overlooking a beautiful view with Joshua trees. The pool and hot tub were lovely and no one else was there. There are trails to walk among the Joshua trees and an ideal overlook. It’s expensive but we splurged to stay for a concert there. The amphitheater is a gorgeous place for a show. Highly recommend and hope to go back if there are special rates sometime!

Great views from my bungalow! Bed was comfy and the little knick-knacks around the room made for a warm and inviting stay. Just a quick drive from Joshua Tree National Park. Would definitely book again.

Beautiful property

This place is amazing but we did have some hiccups. The check in process was less than straight forward leading to delays even though we arrived well after check in time. The pool needed cleaning badly to the point we couldn’t it (more dead bugs than a fresh water lake), and it was the main amenity that made us choose this place. I even tried cleaning it myself but the pool cleaning net was broken, which is probably why it was so dirty.

I stayed one night at The Bungalow by Homestead in Joshua Tree, and while check-in was a bit confusing at first (no staff on site and I couldn’t find anyone to ask questions), I was able to reach the property manager by phone who quickly provided the room and door code. At first I was worried it might be a scam, but once inside I was pleasantly surprised. The room itself was gorgeous—spacious, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly quiet. The peaceful atmosphere made it a perfect place to unwind after a long day. Even though check-in could be smoother, the stay itself was excellent, and I’d happily return for the serenity and comfort this property offers.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite. Checking in was a tad difficult in that it isn’t as easy as a hotel. But, once we had a representative on the phone, they had us in the room fairly quickly. Afterwards, we decided that the solitude of not having a hotel like reception and people in and out all the time was great. The Bungalows offer a nice quiet place to enjoy the desert. It is all decorated nicely with new furnishings. We really appreciated that all the outdoor furniture had been wiped down and cleaned up so that we didn’t have to get our clothes all dusty and dirty as happens out in the desert. The restaurant was closed (I think just for the summer heated months) but we were happy to seek out restaurants in and around the area - many places just a few minutes drive away. The pool and jacuzzi are a bit of a hike away from the rooms but looked nice when we hiked around the place. This might be a negative for some but for us we just enjoy the solitude that the Bungalows offer in a great way. We will be certain to return when we are next in the Joshua Tree area.
