Huge potential for new Management to make it work

Hard to be critical as the Hotel is 'under new Management' as of November 2018 and understandably there will be some teething problems. The potential for the place is massive. A lovely building with a (potentially) very nice garden, river view, games room/lounge/bar area, and a location on the outskirts of the centre of town allowing easy access to the sights. However, some of the furnishings are a little dated and some of the facilities were not fully functional when we stayed mid-November. The access road needs urgent work too. On the plus side the owners and staff are extremely helpful and willing to learn and resolved any issues we had in pretty quick time. The breakfasts were delicious and the Hotel arranged transport for us each day to the Cricket at a knock-down price. There was some confusion with the new owners over the way Hotels.com release pre-paid funds to their account (meaning a flurry of emails and a couple of phone calls I could have done without as I was travelling from the UK/within Sri Lanka as this issue was developing) but all-in-all things worked out well in the end. For the price, comfort, food and service though, they get 4 out of 5 from me. Oh, and get the Wi-Fi sorted guys ! It really is an essential for us travellers !
