When we arrived to check in we were told our room was not ready, she would go hurry that process up. After I sat in the lobby for 20 minutes, the front desk attendant said she could check me in, the room was ready. We gathered our luggage and proceeded to the room. We opened the door to find the heat was on and it was 86 degrees in the room. That told us nobody checked on the room and I just sat in the lobby for 20 min - why? The thermostat was not working. Now, there is a heat advisory in effect in the area, so that was fun. Went down to the front desk to inform them of this problem. We had to sit in the lobby for 1 and a half hours waiting for this to be fixed. They would not move rooms for us. They did not even comp us a drink in the bar for waiting. We just sat in the bar area. We finally were able to go upstairs to get ready for our evening, room cooled down after the engineer fixed the heat to cool. The room was VERY SMALL. Bed was very comfortable. We checked out and after we left I realized they charged me double for a pet and incidentals fee. When I called them, I was told the manager would contact me next day. Never called me. I will not stay at an Aloft chain again.

All in all, we'd stay here again. Perfect location. We developed a nice rhythm to our stay. But there were some negatives. In our SUV it was very difficult to scan our key for parking entrance and exit. Housekeeping fell short. We requested daily housekeeping, but had to make a specific request for it on day three, and that was the only housekeeping we received during our 5 night stay. We had a small coffee spill on the bottom sheet and did not receive a clean sheet post-housekeeping. After a long morning tour of museums on foot, we returned to have a nap and didn't hang the DND sign and one of the hotel staff (not housekeeping) entered our room without knocking.

Beautiful hotel and area. Comfortable, new and clean room. Loved the water & ice dispensers. Check in and bar staff were great. Only thing I didn’t like was someone knocking on our door incessantly on the day of checkout to see if we were still in the room. They barely gave us a chance to get up, get dressed and make sure our dog was secured and just continued to knock despite us calling out to hold on. Very annoying.

The staff were so friendly! The beds weren’t the most comfortable, but it was adequate for our needs. I didn’t realize the bathroom was open, and I was traveling with my nephew, so when we wanted to take a shower, each of us had to make sure that nobody came to that side of the room while we undressed. This isn’t the best hotel if you need more privacy, but we made it work. We loved how close the hotel was to shops and restaurants. We want to come back and spend more time in the area.

I wanted to love this property. Check in was 3:30 and I needed to check in then, they did not text me my room number as available until 7:40 PM. No apology, just like it should be no big deal. The room was insanely hot and they cut you off at turning the air off so it was miserable for summer. And there was no light or plug in for a phone near the bed, had to plug and turn off things across the room. For such a stylish hotel, they could put a little extra in and it could be a great property, and there should be some compensation of free food or something for not being able to check in for another over 4 hours after the actual check in for the property. Could have been great but I will never book there again. Ever. Minor things make huge difficulties for their guests.

This was described as an art deco hotel. The furnishings, the art, the color schemes, etc. are not Art Deco at all. I was very disappointed.. The room is nice and big and very well appointed. However, there’s nothing Art Deco about it whatsoever. It also took me forever to get checked in.

3 day stay. No maid service. Workers at desk and bar were friendly, but hotel was clearly understaffed. Room was clean and hotel was in a good location. Limited food and wine selections. Probably a good place for a 1 night stay, but if you are staying longer, plan on asking for extra towels and toiletries.

Subject: Urgent: Billing & Refund Issues at Aloft Marriott Country Club Plaza Kansas City Attn: Expedia, Aloft & Marriott I booked a stay at Aloft via Expedia over 7 days before arrival, paying in advance per Expedia policy. Despite this, I was charged again at check-in due to two reservations—one paid, one “pay upon arrival”—and at a higher rate than quoted. How did the reservation not cancel after 7 days without payment? I arrived after check-in time, waited 35 minutes for my room due to understaffing, and then while dinnering with a friend, I received a notification of the additional room charge on my Navy Federal account, ruining the meal and forcing me to spend time on the phone. Now, Aloft/Marriott says it will take 7-10 business days to refund, even though I didn't occupy both rooms simultaneously. If you can charge upfront, why delay refunds? This experience is unacceptable and has damaged my trust. I regularly recommend your brands but will now advise against it. I demand an immediate explanation and prompt refund. If you keep removing my review I will find a way for this review to be seen trust me…

While the room and building were visibly clean, there was a heavy smell of mildew in the shower (617). Parking was expensive. Otherwise, unique, bright and colorful. Would go back hoping to not find mildew in next room.

There was zero shampoo in the shower. I’ve got long hair and I had already gotten it wet before checking to see if there was shampoo. And if you have long hair you know how annoying it is to get wet especially to find out you can’t wash it due to no shampoo.
