I arrived at the hotel on Saturday, January 25th, at 2:40 PM. The teenage girl at reception told me my room was ready, but she would only give it to me if I joined the hotel’s rewards program. I told her I wasn’t interested, but she insisted two more times. On the third attempt, she said that if I didn’t become a member, she could only give me the room by charging an "early check-in" fee—even though it was only 15 minutes before 3 PM.
I thought she was joking, but she was serious, so I had to stand at the counter with my 8-year-old son. At 2:55 PM, I asked, "Can you give me the key now?" She checked her watch, said no, and then put up a sign saying she’d be back in 15 minutes. She explained she had to help another customer with a complaint. I asked her to give me my room first, but she said there were still 3 minutes left until 3 PM.
Another customer then said, "OK, let’s wait until 3." So we stood there, waiting for the clock to strike 3 PM. The whole situation was so ridiculous, it felt like a joke.
