We stayed at the Family Selection Villas with our 20-month-old and 3-year-old. Overall, it was a nice stay with some clear positives, but also a few disappointments. Pros: Family Selection offers a more private experience, including a welcome beach bag with kids’ sunglasses and water bottles (a nice exclusive touch). There is a dedicated family buffet with a play area and an exclusive family pool with fun water features for younger kids. The rooms are beautiful—we had an upgraded beachfront swim-out room and highly recommend the upgrade. Staff were very kind, especially Emmanuel our butler and Edgar at La Paisana, which had the best food on the resort. The property was very clean, cart service was efficient, and access to multiple resorts (Kantenah, Colonial, White Sands, and TRS Yucatán) was a big plus. The White Sands pool was the best one. Cons: The Kids Club/Baby Club felt misadvertised—both age groups were combined with limited visible supervision, and we did not feel comfortable leaving our toddlers. The $600 resort credit advertised via Expedia was actually a coupon book with minimum spends, not true credit. The main pool is 6 ft deep throughout, pools were not heated (even in December), food was generally bland with limited kid options, and poolside buffet items were left uncovered with flies. Entertainment was limited and better for older kids, and drinks were watered down. Overall: Beautiful resort with great staff and amenities, but better suited for older kids

Our second trip to Family Selection Kantenah Riviera Maya firstly because our kids (5 and 7 this year) just LOVED the daily kids camp so much. The staff there (including Karen, Emma, Edu, Jazi, Lore, Maritza) were just wonderful and the kids didn't want to leave at the end of the day. We upgraded to the 40 building, the beachfront one and had an absolutely incredible suite with two huge rooms and two full bathrooms, as well as a private hot tub on the spacious balcony. The upgrade for the space and proximity to the beach and view was worth it. The room was just HUGE. The dedicated butlers for building 40 were also terrific (Emmanuel and Luis) and were available to help us with anything we needed by Whatsapp. The Family Selection beach is notably better than the other beach areas as its much less crowded and much more space between chairs. Worth the upgrade! The beach itself is great and wonderful for kids because it stays relatively shallow really far out, but there are some gentle waves to not make it boring. Even our 5 year old who is not a strong swimmer could have fun a fair ways out. If you encounter rocks while walking in, shift down the beach, there are plenty of white sand only areas to walk far out in the bathtub temp water, as fish swim around you! One day a big nest of seaweed accumulated in our area but it had moved off by the next day. Tips: Bring sunscreen, its exorbitantly priced at the gift shop (though there is a communal bottle at Family Select beach).

The uograded room in building 40 had an amazing view. Rooms were recently renovated with modern look and feel. VEGETARIANS BEWARE! VERY LIMITED SELECTION.... Even the formal dinner restaurants were subpar at accommodating vegetarians. Resort is lacking in quality and features and needs significant improvements compared to other 5-star resorts and other Grand Palladium properties I have stayed at before. The only savior for this trip was the upgraded room with an ocenfront view.

we have been going to the Mayan Riviera location for 25 years. And this is the nicest family all inclusive resort we've ever been to. Their restaurants are by far the best their main pool at Family selection is quite deep. So be sure to bring a floatie for little kids yes the family selection Beach and bar are the best so be sure to find that.

It’s a very large hotel with facilities that aren’t new but are in very good condition. There’s some wear and tear, but it’s normal for its age and the high guest traffic. The staff is very attentive and helpful. We had the chance to stay in one of the villas with butler service, and that was a huge plus because they truly assist with everything! One point to consider: the restaurant by the pool is open-air, and many animals such as birds and coatis enter it. This is somewhat unsanitary since they climb onto tables to eat leftover food, and the staff has limited ability to keep them away. There are also placemats placed on the tables that are never changed and are rarely, if ever, cleaned — which, combined with the presence of those animals, could pose a health risk. If you’re traveling with children, I think this is one of the best options you can find in the area, as the hotel is not only designed but also operated to ensure kids have a great time. It offers excellent facilities for them, such as a swimming pool, a water park, and a lovely kids’ club, as well as multiple well-organized activities.

We just returned from 6 days at the Grand Palladium Kantenah Family selection and we have been sad all day, we miss it. This is a fantastic resort only outshined by the people that work there. They are the real reason to visit. Emmanuel, Luis and Rogelio are the best butlers, taking care of restaurant reservations (if you want, The NEST was the BEST with Keniya, Jorge, Antonio, Gustavo, Xcehl, Carla, Faranda to make sure you feel special!)The family selection option is totally worth it, with a private beach and bar (with Joel and Danny to take care of everything) pool with restaurant and bar, and the dining room (NEST) for breakfast and dinner with buffet and menu options. We were lucky enough to get a beach side room with a private rooftop pool in Villa 40, the best building by far. Sitting in the pool, listening to waves and looking out to the ocean over palm tree tops is serious rock star living. Highly recommended. The beach is wide with plenty of chairs with umbrella huts, never an issue finding shade. Main pool shade was more difficult at times, but not impossible. And that pool is great, huge with a water park feature my kids loved! The family selection pool is nice as well, smaller for little kids, but still big enough for some space. Food is good and plentiful, even little buffets pop up at the main pool. Nice boardwalk through eco zones with trees and animals in nature between buildings that's fun. My family really felt special here, thank you Grand Palladium!
