Escape the city and discover a truly special retreat less than 90 minutes from downtown Toronto. A stunningly peaceful spot, sitting across from an uninhabited island, and at the mouth of Canal Lake. This newly renovated (2024) cottage offers the perfect blend of comfort, unique decor and natural beauty. Enjoy swimming, kayaking, yoga on the dock, fishing, or relaxing and watching the wildlife (the loons are making daily appearances this year). Pineview cottage is perfect for a peaceful stay at a reasonable cost. It can be enjoyed year round, with a gas fireplace and a firepit to enhance all seasons.

The Space

Waterfront Paradise: The calm waters are safe for children and novice swimmers. Those who love fishing (Bass, Pike, Pickerel, Crappie) can do so right from the dock. Use the pair of kayaks, or bring your own boat to moor at the dock, and do some exploring of the famous Trent Severn Waterway. Boats can also be rented or launched from Sunset Cove Marina, only a 3-minute drive.
Comfortable and fully-equipped: Freshly renovated with unique décor, cathedral ceiling with rustic beams, a propane gas fireplace, all-season climate control, Wifi, and a smart TV. The cottage consists of two cozy bedrooms, a 3-piece bathroom, open concept fully-equipped kitchen (just bring your own ingredients), living room, and eating area.
Great Area to Explore: Within a 10-minute walk, you will find a swing bridge, golf course with dining, local LCBO and food market (grab some famous Kawartha Dairy ice cream!), baseball diamond, basketball court, and a playground. In less than 15 minutes drive, you can go horseback riding, rent a boat (to moor on our dock), visit the famous Kirkfield liftlocks, go birding in the Carden Plain, and explore Beaverton. In about a 30 minute drive, you can visit Lindsay, Orillia, and Fenelon Falls, each offering a charming day trip destination.
Opportunity to bring friends and family! The two Talbot-by-the-Lake cottages are a perfect choice for an extended family/ friends that want a pair of cottages side by side - allowing each to have some space of their own. Birchview next door sleeps 4, with all the same amenities.

This cottage is in The City of Kawartha Lakes. The Municipal STR Licence restricts the cottage to maximum 5 people at any given time during your stay. The Municipality requires rental guests sign a Rental Guest Code of Conduct. It will be sent to you upon booking for electronic signature.
Linens and indoor towels are provided for all rentals; please bring your own outdoor towels
Rentals include a cleaning service; however, the departure checklist must be completed

Waterfront The cottage's waterfront has a north easterly exposure. It is located on a deeper section of the Trent-Severn system just where the Talbot River flows into Canal Lake. Swimming from the docks is quite good - the gentle current of the river prevents any excessive weed build up. It has good swimming for adults as well as shallow entry swimming for children, with a soft, silty bottom, and a few rocks. Off the end of the dock the water is approximately 5 ft/ 1 ½ m deep.
